Does it matter in which time of the day you sleep?

We all know that sleep is important and we should aim to sleep at least 8 hours, just wondering if sleeping from 11pm to 7am is different than sleepin from 3am to 11am.

Is sleep the same as long as you sleep a certain amount of hours in a row?

What about if you sleep 7 hours in the night and one right after gym for example?

I don't think it really matters, sometimes I take naps during the day or evening if I'm bored or just feel like I need extra rest. Hasnt stunned my strength gains so far.. But, I personally like to try and keep a steady schedule.

as Krueg said keep a steady schedule...As long as you get a good sleep you will be alright. It isn't going to effect you badly at all as many people go throughout their lives either on changing shift work or always on call, but as long as it is quality sleep there won't be a problem. Being a baker I sleep when i can be it in the morning or night and dem gainz just keep coming

I don't think there's any scientific proof that sleeping at different times makes a difference as long as you sleep the recommended 8 hour minimum.

My personal experience however is that I tend to be more sharp when I sleep early and wake up early in the morning.

Ample sleep is what is required according to me. So for me no matter when the rest is taken. Just be sure that you do not sleep just after you take your lunch. Give some time for the food to digest.

I agree with what everyone said. However, keep in mind you also need to think about consequences on different aspects of your life. For example sleeping from let's say 7 AM to 3 PM would be ok in the sense that you will get your rest, but you won't be able to have the type of social life that you may want to have.

Melatonin is turned on by night and turned off by sunlight.

I cant find it right now....but I read a scientific study that found the optimal time to sleep was 10pm. This is when Melatonin levels peaked. After this they decrease. Melatonin is responsible for the circadian rhythm(sleep cycle). People felt the most refreshed after going to bed for a few hours before midnight.

Its also suggested that 7-8 hours of sleep a night is optimal. I can attest to this. I recently have been getting 5-6 hours and I feel drained by the end of the day whereas a day on 8 hours takes much longer to get tired.

And as far as for building muscles you NEED 8 hours of sleep. The body rebuilds the body during sleep. Could be a reason babies sleep so much when they are born and only awake to feed. They constantly are growing.

Yes, your body has a natural Circadian rhythm and people who work overnights tend to develop health problems much sooner than people who work normal hours
