Yes, so does exercise, a healthy diet, and regular flossing. Your body isn't a dumpster, treat it well and it will treat you well.

The only benefit from drinking ALOT(1gallon+ a day) of water that I know of is flushing all the soduim out of your body. Good question though,I'm looking forward to others' responses.

"Drinking Water is Heart-Healthy

The findings of a six-year study of more than 20,000 healthy men and women aged 38-100 in the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology found that women who drank more than five glasses of water a day were 41% less likely to die from a heart attack during the study period than those who drank less than two glasses. The protective effect of water was even greater in men."

If you flush all the sodium in your body, you'll kinda... y'know... die?

While it is true that more water will regularize the amount of sodium in the body, it's far from being the only benefit. Water helps the body get rid of all sorts of toxins and keeps your metabolism--from the cellular level up--running fine.

The problem with drinking too much water is only liable to happen during, say, a marathon... and that's if you only drink plain water.

So unless you drink gallons upon gallons of water every single day and sweat like a pig (thus losing electrolytes) or exercise a lot, it's doubtful you'd get water poisonning. I'd think most people would be smart enough to replenish their electrolytes when the need arises. At least, I'd really like to believe that.

Classic, classic med school scenario. Water poisoning. Just recently in the news too. Some woman was water poisoned from a radio gag. The result? DEATH
Yeah but she drank 2 gallons of water in less than 4 hours, without going to the toilet.
