As soon as I hear the word fetus, all I can think of is the last episode of southpark season 5 titled "kenny dies".
That video had no point what so ever. Damn hippies!

the ones who appose abortion dont even have the facts right and spout missinformation to the people to shock them into beign against abortion...

they for example show pctures of fetuses in for example week 14 -16 and say that it is week 4 , they dont even give them information on how to be a mother how to handle motherhood , but instead call them heathens for being afraid and not ready for sumthing like a child ....

and dont get me started on the whole going out in public places , and showing thoe grotesk images of dead fetuses , people are liek walkign around with theyr 4 -5 year old children and have to see sumthing like that ??
seem to me the only justifiable reason for these people is the bible....

imo abortion should be allowed but monitored and only presented as a last choice , and the timelimits mut be shorter , not like 12 week or so more like 4 th or sumthing.... Instead of going ither right or left , abortion or keeping it , they should advice these girls on how to hande motherhood , give them nuber of channels where they can find support , and advice them of all theyr options not only keeping it or abortion....

I thought abortions only happened legally before it becomes a fetus?

First trimester abortions don't bother me. But after that, it's less like a bunch of tissue and more like a person, so I think that's wrong.

Morphiex, a week 4 limit would be the same as banning abortions altogether. Most women don't know they're pregnant until they miss their period or longer.

Oh dear, it seems my irony sense is tingling again.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

Many of us here were not planned pregnancies, whether each of us knows it or not.
Though, if we are here it is most likely that despite not being planned, the parents wanted children (or they would have had an abortion ;) ) And if they didn't want kids but still had them, chances are that those lives wouldn't turn out very well.

kill the fetuses.. there shall be no clemency!

but seriously, I am in favour of abortion and stem cell research.
The benefits outweight the potential moral issues, and besides, most of the arguments against it seem to have a religious basis...which is questionable at best.

p.s I have just checked answers.com and, technically they wouldn't be killing "fetuses". A developing child is only considered to be one after week 8.

Everyone is welcome to their beliefs, and this thread will get closed for being political in nature anyway, but I think the decision to have the kid is not about wanting a child, but more about one's own feelings toward abortion. Some of my ex's friends have had three and four abortions and consider it to be no big deal. By contrast, in the typical conservative family, a young woman will get much more scorn for having an abortion than for getting knocked up and having an inconvenient kid. We know how much women value social proof, so the belief set of their peers is probably a determining factor in whether or not they get an abortion.

And btw, it does not really matter what men think about the issue. All of the decision rests with the woman, so our feelings are pretty much irrelevant. All we can say is, "I support you whatever you choose" or else like Chris Rock says, she will have the kid, and then make the child hate you by telling him or her "Daddy wanted to kill you but mommy saved you."

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Abortion =/= stem cell research. Stem cells would come from unused embryos created for in vetro fertilization; embryos that would otherwise go in the trash.

I said it like that for a reason: it's the way the protesters always say it, "killing". So I hit back with, what's wrong with killing them?

Those embryos have very many fewer stem cells than your average fetus (in fact, I believe that when they are implanted, they are at the single-cell stage).

Also, you can get quite a lot of stem cells from an umbilical cord, I heard.

But anyways, you need to get what you can get.

Do political threads get closed even in Anything Else? How boring.
Yep. Check out Yahoo Groups or alt.plolitics.abortion. There are forums out there that have debated the ethics of abortion day by day continuously since 1986. So much more meat than debating it here on Sosuave.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

Maybe so, but that's not how it is done. Scientists will never set up a tent next to the abortion clinic for stem cells. It's just too unethical.

You can also get stem cells from adults. There are many different types, but the most promising ones come from embryos.

EDIT: Typo

Well I didn't say all women. You were probably trying to get pregnant anyway, yes?

oh no, never "tried". all my babies were birth control babies, so thats why i got my tubes tied the last time. i think i met my quota.
however with the middle two babies, i woke up the next day with morning sickness and just knew i had gotten pregnant. i also remember craving eggrolls like crazy.
with one child, i went to the dr thinking i had gotten the flu or something and they did a blood test and it was postitive so i went to the dr and there it was on the ultrasound. with the other, i took 2 tests that were negative and finally went to a free clinic for a test that was positive, then went to the dr and there it was on ultrasound.
however, with my oldest child, i missed 2 periods before i officially found out i was expecting and i was about 8 weeks along.
with my youngest child i didnt miss any periods just woke up and knew it and made a dr appointment and when i got there they told me i was 10 weeks along.

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.
