HELP!!

I need a new shaving process, it's forever been shaving every 3 days, after shower, shick 4 blades.

Now i'm getting this BS skin irritation and I went to a skin doctor and she told me not to follow GQ and shave before showering.

What's your shaving process? How often do you shave? What kind of blade do you use?

I shave after showering because your face is damp with hot water which helps. If for whatever reason you're shaving but not showering at least wet your face with a cloth first. This is because the hot water opens the pores on your face and softens your beard.

BTW I use the same razor/blade as you. I shave about every other day.

I actually feel lazy now..haha. I shave before I shower and then just wash off all the cream when I take a shower, I also throw on some face wash for acne so I wont break out before I take a bath as well.

I actually started shaving IN the shower...I bring a little mirror in there with me but I've been able to shave pretty accurately without it after doing it so long. I cant stand doing it before or after anymore...after my face feels dirty, and before it's way too fvcking painful

I'm with WhitePimp. Except the only thing I shave with a razor is my face (I trim my beard with a Remington).

I have a mirror on one side of my shower, but I'm so used to it by now that mainly I just go by feel. I use Dove soap as my lather. I can get the job done in about a minute and a half. Sure beats paying $12 for a barber every few weeks!

Check out traditional wet shaving with a brush and lather, and also with a DE razor. It's not that hard to do and also feels much better than anything you have ever felt before while shaving. Also kinowear.com had an article about that, but it got stuck in the basics.

I switched to wet shaving a year ago and have not regretted it.

Do it before you take a shower.

1. drench your face with war/hot water.
2. put the shaving cream on and start shaving.
3. after your done drench your face in cold water. don't dry your face off right away. let the cold water soak into your skin and kind of dry off on its own.
4. take a shower.

First make your face wet with hot water till the hairs get a little softer. Then apply shaving cream. Let it sink in for 5 minutes or so. I usually take a sh*t in between. Then shave, shower and apply good after-shave balsam. That last thing is important.

Also, you don't need 4 blades. Really, that's just marketing BS especially considering the fact that you don't even have a heavy beard (you only need to shave once in 3 days). I use the Gilette one with 2 blades and I wouldn't want anything else. Plus the blades are a whole lot cheaper then the new ones. I just go up against the stroke ONCE, then clean my face and re-apply shaving cream. And then I go up against the stroke one more time. It gives me a 100% clean shave and I don't rip my face open.
