Do you guys eat junk in moderation or cut it out completely?

Chocolate, pizza, crisps, takeaways; do you allow yourself these in moderation or have you quit them altogether?
If you allow yourself them in moderation, how often do you eat junk?

moderation, do not go too strict, what i mean is have 1-2 cheat days a week where you will change your diet, such as eat crap or eat more or less. just like your workouts you need to vary your diet and "shock" your body.

basically yeah...

Sometimes I'll go off eating clean for a week or something sometimes... like vacations... or when I'm taking a break from lifting and my body is shot. You're not gonna put on 20 lbs in a week.

If I'm cutting I won't even eat white bread, but generally I'm not too strict. I'll have the odd piece of chocolate, biscuits or (grilled) burger. However, pizza, fried food or fast food, alcohol or full sugar drinks are not part of my diet ever.

I used to eat loads of it too, but it seems every health guide I read these days condemns white bread (and white rice) like it's full of cyanide so I switched to a moderate amount of wholemeal now.

If someone can shed light on why white bread is so bad though I'd be keen to hear it.

white bread and white rice = bleached carbs/hi-GI....

it's the same as drinking a coke... and the same reason why you don't drink "full sugar drinks"

I buy the 100% wholeweat bread that is also very high in fibre... Read labels til you find one that has high fibre and is 100% wholegrain. Watch out for the calorie count, too... make sure there isn't alot of fat hiding in there.

High fibre is anything that has 5g per serving or so


As for junk food, I don't really eat it much... I may order some chinese food once a week or 2 and stop of at MacDonalds every once in a while.... But I never really have a dedicated cheat day. I eat well just about all of the time, and when I'm in the mood to feel disgusting I'll get some junk food.


Alcohol is my biggest vice... I know how bad it hurts your body, especially when you're trying to stay lean... but man I love pounding back some beers with my boys. I've cut my drinking down to about once a week.... not bad considering we're still in the summer festivities. At the start of summer I ws drinking 5 nights a week, and eatig poorly.... I put a stop to it when I started feeling like total ass.... not to mention I wasn't looking as good as before haha.

It's amazing how fast new fat will melt of of your body. You know, the stuff that you just put on in recent months? It's getting rid of the little love handles that I've had since highschool that are not goign too quickly......but I'm down to about 4 pounds left to lose. Almost there.

Sometimes i give in to temptation and eat some chocolate chip cookies or something. but i eat pretty clean most of the time.

what are some good, healthy snack foods to keep around the room in college? all i seem to have is pure sweets.

Don't cut junk out completly. You'll hate your life and you'll end up completly dropping your diet. Just take the nutritional information of what you plan on snacking on into account. What you can get away with eating really depends on what your goal is.

Don't eat a whole pizza, box of cookies, exc. Moderation is the key.

Cutting, once a week. Not cutting, probably about 3 times a week, ha. But then again, I do enough exercise to burn that off!

Chocolate, pizza, beer, whatever your forbidden pleasure is will do your mental state a power of good.

You can't maintain the healthy athlete/bodybuilder lifestyle without having the occasional treat, you're only human after all.

Maintainability and consistently is key to our training and doubly important for our diet, which takes second place to our training, if we can't maintain the diet by indulging when we feel like it then we're set up for failure.

A little bit of what you fancy does you good.

Another reason to avoid butting/culking cycles, in one you're depriving yourself of cheats and treats in pursuit of extra leanness (putting you in a sense of depravation and punishment), whereas in the other you tend to eat too many, justifying it by saying you need the calories and/or you were saving them up from your cut, hence you getting fatter as well as more muscular.

If you were just following your lifestyle diet instead of doing specifically bulks or cuts then you could easily find the balance in how much junk you can eat to maintain your physique but without feeling deprived either.

I eat junk food all the time. Once a week I have a burger and fries, or some fried chicken. Last week I just had a cheese-only pizza, just a round bread with a massive amount of beautiful melted cheese on top.

I don't see the point of being a total health fanatic if your life is gonna suck.

Dude, contest dieting sucks big time. The only time you get to eat "crap" is right after the show then its back on again.

during a bulk cycle...you don't want to put on fat weight. Usually 2-3 grams of carbs and 1 gram of pro is typical bodybuilder menu. Maybe one cheat day a week. 18-20 * weight. for cutting 10-15 depending upon phenotype and insulin sensitivityl.
