I live kind of in a suburban area, about an hour north of the big city, and about a half hour north of me, areas get remote and towns turn into communities to where you can drive through it, blink, and you're in an out of that town.
There's a couple of women in my area that live in such areas and I almost swear they prefer remaining unattached than get involved with anyone. They aren't too bad looking either, but I'm thinking there's no man, even the attractive ones...they would consider dating.
In fact, they avoid social situations altogether that would even give them the opportunity to meet other men, and by doing this they spend time with extended family members instead like cousins, spending time with nieces and nephews...as some kind of replacement for a man.
It's like they've written off being involved with ANYONE. They wind up being the black sheep of the family, the single Aunt and replaces her time with men with members of her family, ie - spending time with nieces and nephews are more important to them than any kind of social life.
In their 40s, they sadly still socialize with their high school friends sometimes...but not open to meeting new people.
This one I recall posts bitter, but humorous post memes on her FB profile, one showed a cartoon of man talking to a woman asking her, "Isn't it always a woman's dream to find a man of her dreams?" and she said, "No, a woman's dream is to eat all she wants and not get fat!"
One showed a meme of a guy pointing a gun at cupid saying "Do not touch me!" an implied bitterness if you will. She's kind of cute, but it's kind of a shame, too.
I don't think you'll ever see men get to this point in life, as they are always the pursuers, right? Unless they are getting their needs met via an FWB situation, they'll never do this.
