Recently I found myself in Europe, Italy to be more precise, I was there for a funeral. I hate funerals but I had to go it was a family member and in my family if you miss something like that you become an outcast. Having a home base in Italy is beneficial to me for when I am traveling Europe so I attended the funeral. After the funeral I had a decision to make, go home to Australia or spend some time in Europe. I chose to stay in Europe for the next 3 months...
At this point I should explain that I do not work for anybody, I am self-employed, all I need is a computer and internet connection and I can work anywhere in the world. Also I do not work much, about one day per week I work a few hours and sometimes I work a whole week out of the month when I need to get something done. In short I have a lot of free time on my hands and have nothing tieing me down to any country or place.
My first destination was the Czech Republic, it was great. I rented a luxury apartment and had a lot of fun. I met a lot of great women, they were really smart and good looking. Some did not like foreigners at all and some didn't speak much English but overall it was enjoyable.
While I was in the Czech Republic I met a group of 4 guys and 3 girl from Romania. They spoke great English and I begun to go out with them almost every day. They were very accepting and even though they all knew each other for years they treated me like I was an equal part of the group. In Australia people are friendly but less accepting than Europeans. I think the stranger danger mentality we are brought up with makes us wary of newcomers.
After three weeks these guys were going to visit Italy, there was no way I was going back to Italy but they had told me so much about Romania that I had to visit. Me and them organized to meet up in Romania when they finished in Italy. So I headed for Romania....
I will continue this story later but I just wanted to dispel some of the myth surrounding Romanian women.
1) They are not all looking for a rich westerner to marry so they can get out of Romania (but they do love foreigners)
2) They are not hairy they shave (In Australia people think that Romanian women do not shave)
3) The country is not rich but it is not desolate either. They have great clubs and the best night life I have experienced in the world. (I have been all over the world)
4) People do try run scams on you and you need to watch out for pick pockets but as far as crime goes thats about all you get. Armed robbery (muggings) are almost unheard of and murders are extremely low in Bucharest (capital city) I think its below 5 per year.
5) People are extremely friendly and welcoming.
6) The women are absolutely amazing. In America walking down a street you notice that 5/10 girls are over weight and maybe 1-2/10 are above average looking. In Romania no kidding 5/10 girls are way above average and the rest are average. You rarely see a overweight girl or an ugly girl.
7) More women than men, it is uncanny clubs are packed with women at least 2 women for every on man. When I was in America it was more like 3 women for every one man.
8) Health care is average, it is better than America by far but only if you tip the doctors. Basically the more you pay the doctors or hospital staff the better they treat you.
That is about it, I just wanted to bring this subject up because when I told my friends I went to Romania they looked at me like I was crazy and started talking about all these myths that Romania is some famine struck, desolate wasteland.
