There's this girl that I know that I'm attracted to. I don't really mind if she doesn't like me back, since we can just go on being friends and all that, but I don't want to just go in there and mess up when I don't have to, either. So is it a good idea to just go up to her while we're talking one day and say something like, "Listen, we hang out a lot and I like you, so I want to get to know you better. It's no big deal if you don't feel the same way but we can go get a drink sometime," etc., etc.

Or would it just be too upfront and obvious? I don't think it really matters as long as you're sincere, but who knows.

Second sentence = deal breaker

At first you sound uber confident. Then you say the second sentence and you destroy any progress you just made. You're backing out on yourself, so you can stay "safe". Well, staying "safe" won't get the girl in the sack for you, so don't say that! Instead, say "Listen, we hang out a lot and I'm attracted to you, so I want to get to know you better. Give me your number and we can talk over coffee." Much better.

If you were an HONEST guy you would realize that you are not really friends with her, and that any attempts at friendship with a girl you like is pure folly.:nono:
