Just curious...

Honestly, with my own experience if he has a reason to hit her I will encourage him. A good reason of course. Otherwise if the guy is simply just psycopath, I have to out of my compassion stop this guy. And not only if the victim were a girl. If the victim were a weaker man, kids, old people, any human being.

I'd say something and then phone the cops. Why beat on someone much weaker than you? When you say "abusing" , self defense does not come to mind and such a situation requires intervention.

I figure for him to risk years in prison and a beatdown from swarms of white knights and badge monkey's she must have done something really bad and more than likely deserves it. I'd probably ask the guy if he needs a hand, plus I've kind of been wanting to try out my new 360 crescent kick knockout technique.

I would return the favor. Have done it before..and would/will do it again. If he's at the point of beating a woman the guy needs to get rid of her. Even if she "baits" him as you say..why stoop to that level? Be a man. Walk away, cut her out of your life forever. Any 'man' that feels it is ever necessary or acceptable to hit a woman is simply pathetic.

I'd call the police and not intervene if it's bad enough. Don't want to get stabbed or beaten up.

I've intervened verbally three times.
Twice the chiçks started abusing me and told me to mind my own business.
The other time, this big Croatian dude just stared at me and said: "She's only a fvcking woman" and walked off.
I'd be reluctant to get involved physically though.

I can't tell if people here are trolling or not. I'd just look the other direction.

The lack of accountability in this thread is pathetic.....yet expected.

A man must ask ones self if sosuave remains a pro-masculine site.....or if it has spiraled into an anti-feminine site. The two are not the same.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Interesting, same response if it were two men starting to get physical? Same "accountable" analysis? I think not. In the age of equality, no person is accountable, legally or morally, for the protection of any other person outside certain limited., obvious relationships, and this is true regardless of gender. You wanted it? You got it. Enjoy.

To the topic and thread generally, be very careful injecting yourself into ANY dealings with strangers out on the street, out of public view. Lots of personal and legal liability, risk and danger can result. In jurisdictions I'm aware of, there is no obligation to help or assist, but once you start to assist, you become subject to various standards of conduct. Pick your battles very carefully when "helping" strangers.

Can't let society define your morals. If that was the case, the nazis in nazi Germany can be justified by saying that they were just following the cultural norm. It logically doesn't work.

WTF. No real answers here yet, so far as I can see. I guess when a tougher topic is brought up it is easier to hide behind humor. Yet, with a forum you do have time to think before you type, and also, have time to think to NOT respond.

Anyway, we have a standard in our society. I know the lines are blurred more and more all the time, but the standard for better or worse still remains. Men do not hit women.

As a MENS forum, created and continued for the pursuit of being better men, standards are important to understand, pursue, and uphold.

I believe that all situations are different. All actions and in actions must be contemplated before decisions when handling delicate matters.

If you see a man yelling at a woman and see that there is no immediate danger to her physical safety you do nothing, it is up to her as an individual to respect herself enough to remove herself from that situation. If you see a MAN striking a woman you MUST intervene. Actually, in some situations, although rarely, and depending on local laws, you are obligated to do something.

Morally, I would say you are obligated to do something as well.
Of course you are never to put yourself in direct peril, but, I would say I would, and , that you should also. Just my stance. It to me is not "white Knight" because it would be harder for me to digest doing nothing and watching someone suffer or be injured, then to heal from any wounds I may receive.

In the few civilian situations I have been I have noticed that you can break up this type of behavior without even approaching. A firm yell across the room, has backed of 2 different guys. One grabbed her arm very aggressively and the other was pulling her hair. It seems that when someone is angry they get tunnel vision, especially when intoxicated. Breaking that tunnel vision and letting the aggressor know that others are taking note and stock of the situation can usually deescalate it.

I watched another guy wind up and punch a girl in the face once. She was sitting at a bar on a stool. Got her bell rung pretty severely. I did not hesitate one sec. and cleaned this guys clock. 2 secs after he hit her I actually sucker punched him and knock him out cold. Then, a bouncer through me on my face. Sometimes you just act, and principal overtakes thought. I was younger then though so I am not sure if I would be so hasty this time around. I should have definitely taken better account of my surroundings.

In hindsight and as it pertains to the question. I would say do nothing for verbal abuse at first. If you witness it escalate, use your voice to break it up, if someone strikes another weaker individual and you think you are the only one who can stop the situation, DO NOT FIGHT, but use submission techniques.

( what I should have done) Less likely for you to be shot, stabbed or arrested. Also, if you are serious about knowing the real answer, do a quick google of local good Samaritan laws.

I would step in and try to help ANYONE that was getting beaten by someone stronger than they are. Man or women, if I thought that my actions would help with minimal risk to myself.

I would stop anyone attacking anyone. No one should ever have to physically hit someone and if it's too dangerous for me then I'll probably call the cops before I intervene.

I think the standard procedure here is to phone the police.

What if he is emotionally weak, she is crazy, and she knows how to bait him into hitting her?
I would overhear my neighbor fighting with his girl and it was like this. The things she told him were just total disrespectful bait. Dudes now in jail for 4 or more years for flipping out and attacking her with a piece of glass.

Moral of the story: Keep woman at arms length. That dime your nervous to talk to might be someones bane. Let them in slowly and reject as soon as things start to sour. you above all else...
