I read the stuff in the archive, and i've been reading a lot online already, I just can't figure out how to approach dieting.
What stresses me out is counting calories and protein and all that.

I don't eat a lot in general. Most days I could be fine on 1000 calories or even less. Sometimes 500.
I was reading a lot before I started working out, so I know how important eating the right foods is to gaining muscle. I stopped eating high fat foods, and sweets, sodas etc and pretty much only eat eggs, chicken, beef, vegetables and fruit.
I know I need to step it up and eat a LOT more, but how?
Do people here really eat 8 meals a day?

Could someone give suggestions on how i can get enough protein in like two meals a day?
Maybe that's really unrealistic.

I'm just getting started working out.
I'm 6'1 and around 195lbs.

In the beginning, you need to measure out your foods, count calories/macros etc so you actually know what you are consuming. Once you've been doing it a while, you can just eyeball things.

I find it hard to believe you are only eating 500-1000 calories. Post up a days worth of food. This is why you need to measure and count everything in the beginning. Studies have shown that overweight people underestimate what they eat and overestimate their activity levels. Underweight people, overestimate what they eat, and underestimate their activity levels.

You don't need to eat 8 meals per day, this has been debunked for years now. Look up Leangains.

At 195lbs, whether you are trying to bulk up or lose fat, you should be consuming between 195g-273g of protein per day. If you only want to eat 2 meals, so be it. It just means that you'll need to consume 100g+ of protein each meal.

Sh1t man, there are some days I hardly eat and I'm alright, but consistently eating 500-1000 calories?? At 195? Bro you've either got some badass genetics or are grossly understating your caloric intake.

Anyway, once you figure out what your daily caloric and macro needs are, it's not that hard...just make sure whatever you eat has the nutrition info label. It's on everything except restaurant food.

yea you're probably right about this. for two days after i started working out i was keeping a very close count of what i was eating on my phone.
day one came up to 745 calories, day 2 was closer to 900.
the main reason why it was so low was because i was only eating really healthy foods.
im realizing now that its fine to eat food with fat and stuff, as long as there is still a higher balance of calories, proteins and good stuff.

I will figure it out. I have no issue eating the exact same thing every day if needed.

ha i guess the main goal is to look like i give a fvck. im too skinny and even though i can still get girls, i'd do a lot better with some muscle.
plus it just feels good to work out, and it would be nice to have a better body in general.

anyway, i've been reading a lot and i'm pretty dedicated to figuring it out now so that in the future it will be a lot easier.
once i start adding stuff like protein shakes it shouldn't be too much of a problem, i just have to get used to eating more.
