My friend is in med school right now, he claims that diet soda is actually not that bad for you.

As long as you're not drinking it all the time, you should be good. and it actually won't get you fat.

Though you do run the risk of diabetes, but that's only if you drink it too much.

Diet soda has lots of chemicals and whatnot. Have you ever tried quitting soda? After a few weeks, you won't even want one anymore.

If it's for weight loss purposes you could get away with drinking a diet soda here and there but otherwise I haven't heard ANYTHING health related that has stood out. Doesn't mean it's o.k.,doesn't mean it's not o.k.

I quit soda for about a whole year. I just had some today cuz it was diet, and it was the only thing in the fridge besides water.

No its definitely not as bad as regular pop.

It has no calories and no sugar.

If you are drinking it instead of the real thing for weightloss its only negative is that it has a lot of sodium in it like the regular soft drinks so it could cause ya to retain water if you drink it too much ie water weight but yeah it won't put any fat pounds on ya no matter how much you drink and no there is no diabetes risk from drinking diet pop unless aspartme or splenda suddenly became causes of that condition like too much sugar is.

Same here. I just stopped buying sodas altogether and I don't have any craving for them really. I have one every now and then, maybe one a week and that's it. Problem is, people drink soda and other high fructose corn syrup beverages as their MAIN drink rather than just as an occasional treat.

Depends what you believe about artificial sweeteners. In some people they cause an insulin response and can therefore mess with sensitivity.

I personally replaced soda with Arizona tea. I drink 1 or 2 of those 99 cent cans a day. Its a cheap and good tasting alternative IMO.

Sweetened ice teas are no better than sodas. Still loaded with HFCS. Cheap??? No way a 99 cent can is the same price as a full 2 liter bottle soda.

Arizona Tea does have a lot of sugar. Some of the Snapple teas have less sugar, but it sucks that "diet" tea has artificial sweetener. I have found Lipton unsweetened black tea, but I have not found an unsweetened green tea.

Studies have shown that the aspartame in diet soda causes tumors/ cancers in lab rats.

If you piss any color other than clear (except the first piss in the morning), you got problems.

actually, they conducted a study, and showed that diet soda actually makes you fatter than normal soda. It is because of all the artificial crap they put in it that will make your body fvck up and gain more weight than if u just took in those 200 calories with normal soda.

i'm tired of all the scare-mongering about artificial sweeteners, but there is some concern now that they throw off your body's natural ability to link taste & caloric density.

better: brew your own green (or white) tea, and don't bother sweetening it.
