Sup everyone, I haven't posted in a while, but I really need some advice here. I've been battling depression over the years ever since high school. It was terrible freshman year, then it got a little better during my sophomore-senior years. I believe because I kept myself busy. Unfortunately it was playing video games every weekend when I should have been going out. I did have some friends though during that period. I had my latest bout with depression from the beginning of 2006 to about mid-summer. Everyday I felt like crap. Around late July and all through August though, the depression went away, I was hanging out with friends as much as possible and I was keeping busy. Now I'm back in college again and I feel that the depression is coming back because my friends haven't been in touch with me. I've tried calling them but we just don't hang out anymore. I was happy for like 2 months and it felt great now it is slowly coming back the feeling of loneliness.

I'm feeling all lonely again and I want to fight this so I can finally conquer it. I don't make much of an effort to meet new people and I know I should. I of course would like to start dating, it gets a bit irritating when the parents keep annoying me about getting a girlfriend.

Anyway I would appreciate some feedback on how to conquer this once and for all thanks.

im not going to recommend that you go and kill your brain by taking anti-depressants or other medicines. The only thing i can recommend is that you do some research into alternative medicine-diets. It has been shown that what we eat has a great effect into how we feel.

http://www.drrapp.com (might try checking out her book, exposes the dangerous chemicals we come in contact daily which cause all kinds of diseases).

btw, in one study they made people with depression take long walks in sunny days and they showed improvements over their moods. Why not try this out? instead of staying in your room all sad go outside and take a 30 minute walk, get some sunlight don't wear a hat.

I seriously doubt that walks would help. I'm in a similar situation as the original poster.I know I'm in the best shape of my life, get plenty of exercise plus diet well. However, I feel like crap now. Even my hobbies seem to be dull. I'm better at them, but I feel empty inside even after accomplishing something hard. Maybe it's my lack of social interaction or drive to do anything in life.

I made a appointment to see a counseler a couple weeks ago. Next week will be my first session. I know I need help. I'm get angry at myself at times now. For example yesterday after my Japanese test, I walked out the room, and this other girl walked out of the room after me. She looked at me, grabbed my shoulders...then whispered..."Was number three x?". I don't know if she's trying to **** with me, interested, or just the way she is. I could of taken advantage of a situation like that, but I didn't.

I don't know what to do anymore. I only hope counseling can do some help.
