Denim Blue Jean Jackets : Yes or No?

I wore a denim jacket today and got some grief from a couple of friends. They said that denim jackets were a product of the 80's and should not be worn today. I don't see a lot of people wearing them but hell. places like Abercrombie sell them. What do you think, are they outdated or do you think they're aq good style to go with?

i have one that i bought from the gap a couple years ago...never wear it...its probably out of style now and a little too big for me anyway...dont know how to dress myself right so have no idea what to wear it with. but i am learning about style slowly though.

They're still fine as long as they aren't the ratty John Cougar Mellencamp or Bruce Springsteen kind from the 80's. In the fall definitely wear the darker colored jackets as apposed to the lighter washed ones. Vintage washes are good too. The only hardfast style rule is just not to wear them with jeans, that's very 80's.

they are cool so long as you dont wear them with jean pants. That is a fashion faux pas in my opinion. It's too simple and obvious to be fashionable plus it looks kind played out, kind of like matching jumpsuits are. But with the right combination of pants and a shirt, the jean jacket can work wonders. Ask a sales associate when you are shopping for stuff that makes you look good

its to my understanding that the 80s stuff are coming back.
they are selling jean skirts with the lacey trim at walmart for eight bucks.
all those long shirts that chicks used to wear with those leggins with lace at the bottom are being sold again.

therefore, if this is all coming back into style in ky, al, ga, fl, mi, in.... i am sure jean jackets are too.

personally i think jean jackets look weird with slacks, they were made to go with jeans.

Denim jackets are casual only, so wear them with either jeans or khakis. PenKitten is right, they look wierd with anything dressy.

If you really want an all around jacket that looks good with jeans OR dress slacks, get a black leather blazer.

You can pull it off if you wear the right clothes with it. Just don't wear them with jeans that are anywhere NEAR the same shade of blue. best not to wear them with jeans period. also, get a denim jacket with some style to it, a little texture, some frayed edges, etc. Plain denim jackets look kinda bad.

From my observations.. not that I'm a fashion expert at all (I have chicks go shopping for clothes with me cause I always buy crap)
but blue jean jackets were a feature in broke back mountain weren't they? Don't wear one with blue jeans and a cowboy hat..haha

From what I've seen the black leather blazer had lived out it's life a while back. I don't even think Wiseguys wear them anymore. They're pretty much just pushed by the big box leather retailers.

denin jackets are extremely gay for men.
small, sleeveless denin jackets on women look extremely sexy as fvck. do yourself a favor and save some "dough ray me" and stop chasing the urban casual concept style, real men wear traditional permanent fashion. anybody that doesn't know what that means or interested in knowing what that means PM me.

all-black leather jackets are very 50s. They're kinda played out.

denim jackets work better on some people than others. I think if you look younger you can pull it off better. I sometimes wear one with a hoodie underneath. I've been told it's a good look on me.
