twice a week maximum IF you do all the necessaries to help recovery (cardio, stretching, LOTS of food, glutamine if you believe in it etc, etc)

otherwise just stick to once a week

your chest depends on your back and legs getting bigger to grow anyway :D

It depends on your goals. If you are trying to get ready for a BB comp, then you might lift chest twice a week. If you are just trying to get into shape or are trying to bulk up, hitting each bodypart HARD once per week should be more than enough.

You can make excelent gains by just working each muscle once a week (abs and calves can be worked more, but they're the exception). Divide it up into three sessions a week.

How many times you work your chest in a week depends on the intensity. You could hit it once a week and annhialate it. Or you could train it 3 times a week, but with less intensity.

Hitting everything HARD once per week should genereally work for everyone if ur doing everything right. I'd recommend at least 2 days rest for chest, more if its still sore.

I used to do once per week for everything but now I'm doing full body twice a week to switch it up: heres my current program (using Brandon Curry's), I'd recommend it to ppl with a couple years experience to shock your body-

Day 1: Chest & Back & Shoulders (Hypertrophy)
Day 2: Legs & Arms (Strength)
Day 3: Rest
Day 4: Chest, Back, Shoulders (Strength)
Day 5: Arms (Hypertrophy)
Day 6: Legs (Hypertrophy)
Day 7: Rest

On Hypertrophy days I do about 7-12 sets per bodypart, using rest-pause techniques on some exercises. On Strength Days, I do 1 HARD exercise per bodypart (e.g. Legs-Full Squats, Lats- Barbell Rows, Chest-Bench Press) 5x5's or 7 sets of 4 reps.

Throw in some abs and cardio when u want to. Getting results from this after only 1 week!

Your chest is the minor 'big' muscle in your body, and relies on your legs and back growing to grow itself.

Want a big chest? Squat and deadlift.

While we're at it: Want big arms? Squat and deadlift.

Want big shoulders? Squat and deadlift.
