I've been bulking for a few months now. I'm seeing some pretty good gains in both my lower and upper body. Problem is, I'm getting a belly. It's bigger than it's ever been before. I want to start running, but I'm not sure how it will affect my overall weight gain. Will I start losing mass all over? This sh1t is really pissing me off.

I know a few of you such as Gav, Silverwex and Cloud-uk are bulking. What the hell do you guys do? Anybody who knows anything please share.

Replies appreciated as usual.

Seems like you "bulked" too quick. The quicker you bulk, the more fat you gain. If you're feeling "too fat" now, it's time to start cutting. Next time, you might want to slow the "bulking" down a bit, so you're not left with a shytload of fat to lose.

don't worry. same thing happened to me a while back while i was using diesel's guide. just cut from the carbs and keep the protein levels in each meal the same. e.g. i was having around 50g carbs per meal, so i replaced it with 35g carbs (keeping the 45g protein). this keeps you muscle building while cutting off some fat.

you could ofcourse incorporate cardio into your bulking plans to speed up the cutting, while gaining muscle. just add like two or three days a week for cardio (30minute session of fast running). if you are doing this, try to separate your cardio from the weightlifting, so if you lift in the morning, run at night or even better, on an off day from the lifting.

you drinking alcohol? when i drink like 6units or more in a night, i'll start seeing a little bit of a belly in the morning. if i keep drinking like this the belly becomes permanent and then only reducing the carbs/putting in some cardio/cutting off the alcohol will work

Thanks guys. Gav, I knew you would have some experience with this. Being a 20 year old college student, I tend to binge drink about twice a week, sometimes more. I know this is a big factor in my belly. The reason I didn't mention it is so I wouldn't hear, "Stop drinking beer dumbass", etc.

Quitting drinking is not an option at this point in my life. However, I have switched to Miller Light because of the carbs. I think I'm just going to run twice a week and maybe cut back on the carbs as you said.

Gav, you still taking your creatine with koolaid? lol

heh, koolaid? that wisny me :D i take it with water

yeh, miller light should be better for you, but its hard to lose a belly if you're still drinking beer, so try cutting it down. how much do you drink now anyway? the most i'll drink in a night now is 4-6 pints. beer gives me a belly and reduces my performance. cvmming inside a girl is a lot harder after 6 beers than 3. think about it :p

alright man, good luck

Hey tyte.

Yeah same happened to me. Got a big belly now, lol. Apart from in the morning when theres no food there its kinda normal.

The only way to get rid of it is to cut up. Implement some cardio into your regime and, as gav said, cut back on carbs - not altogether tho.

Im no expert in cutting but this is whats been said time over time.

Im gonna keep bulking til i get a bit heavier and then cut up for summer.

PS - I knock back about 7 pints friday and sat nights but it hasnt really fvcked me up at all. i dont think a few beers are that bad for you - unless you're really anal about it. Hey, im gonna have fun while im young! you CAN work for a great body AND have a few beers now and again.

Good luck!

No, you can only get rid of fat by doing cardio and cutting back on carbs.

Even if you do 1000 sit ups a day for a year you wont get rid of the belly.

well, what about people that arent overweight/ arent underweight and just have an average body. my bro and one of my friends, they are almost close to being skinny, yet they have a belly....all they do is ***** and moan about it.

i told one of my friends, to do cardio and abs exercises to rid of it...since he doesnt like the idea of joining a gym.

you bulked up too fast. you should be gaining around 1lb a week, 2 at max. anything more then 2 and ur putting on FAT. if you followed a diet, just figure out how many calories u need to cut back on the next time u bulk

as for the belly, the only thing u can do now is cut. only thing i wouldnt follow in the sticky is the protien reccomendation. 2g per lb is a bit too much. figure out ur maintenence calories, subtract 500 from that, then divide that up into 20% fat, 40% carbs, 40% protien.

The difference in calories between light and standard is only 40 per (12oz) bottle.

Half a dozen lites is still 650 calories, so it adds up pretty quick, especially if you're going to go harder than that.

If I HAD to keep drinking, I'd opt for something harder hitting, that you drink less of.

Alcohol has undesirable effects on testosterone, too.

But having said that, I know a few guys that drink like crazy and still show abs, so it CAN be done -- you just need to take into account its effect on your workouts and adjust as required.
