Another great tool is the drill press. A drill press can be used for several applications. Many times, an annular cutter is used while drilling into the side of a pipe for a fitting such as corporation, or the annular cutter can also be used for drilling into the side of a pipe where a piece of all threaded rod is to be mounted. After the hole has been drilled, a tap, from a tap and die set, is brought into the picture; another great set of tools that can be found in a machine shop. The tap and die is then used to create threads so that the all threaded rod can be mounted into the side of the pipe.

This thread probably belongs under "Anything Else," but that's up to the moderators.

I prefer the vertical milling machine over the drill press. It's sometimes referred to as a "Bridgeport" because they used to be built by Bridgeport Machines.

I think it's one greatest machines ever built. You can drill, mill, tap, ream, and bore with reasonable accuracy.

I never feel more manly/alpha than when metal chips are flying.

Clearly in the wrong section...

Anyone here use a mag drill? I am wondering if they are any good and if I should get one for the shop.
