Can any of you guys relate?

It's kinda like you can't connect with anyone. And your always searching for that emptiness to be filled.

How do you guys deal with this?

Yeah. I think everyone actually feels that way though. At least at some point. People change, too, so even good friends can fade away.

I don't really know how to deal with it, except to realize that everybody else goes through it too and to just not worry about it.

Felt that for a long time.

F'cked through a lot of women, still felt it.

Had friends, partied and done good drugs, everyday, still felt it.

The only thing that fixed it was a girlfriend. :box:

The biggest cause of unhappiness is trying to be happy.

Here is the key to life --> Set goals and chase after them.

When you do this.. you have no time for self-pity or feeling lonely or wishing you had some Disney movie girlfriend/wife who is always nice to support you emotionally. You'll be too busy spinning plates, building your empire and chasing your goals to worry about these frivolousities.

Depression is often a condition of the inactive and uninspired.

Volunteer with the elderly, young, or homeless. It shouldn't be about YOU but they listen to everything and YOU will benefit as much as they do.

Ditto, me being an engineering student at a big state school of 35,000 students made me literally give no ****s about **** else other than that tunnel of light($$$) at the end. Dudes who mope around about being played by women usually don't have **** going for themselves, working dead end minimum wage jobs and paying off rent on an apartment. Have a goal folks...

I have an anxiety disorder and I guess and that often leads to depression.

I try and take part in sport, I sometimes walk for hours just to clear my head. I'd love to study more but sometimes everything is just so cloudy.

I mostly agree with PlayHerMan. I do think some people just do not have optimal brain chemistry and are prone to depression. I think it's medical, not entirely psychological. In these cases I think medication can be an option.

I've been through some utterly dark and hopeless lonely times in my life. But they do pass. Remember that.

Set goals, achieve them. Even if it's hard and uncomfortable. Reach out to family, hang out with bro's when they are there. Keep moving, keep getting back in the saddle. It will pass.

colossus maybe right about me,i think im prone to depression or maybe im just bipolar,i dont know.but lately ive noticed that im happy on monday, depressed on tuesday then again im happy on wednsday.

its like i can predict when im going to be depressed or happy, the thing is i dont have anyone to talk about this, since i dont want my friends to think that im off my rocker or another crazy bastard on prozac.

You can pray till you're knees are rubbed raw from your hardwood floor. Re-read PlayHerMan's post until it sinks in. Do something. Don't wait for anything or anyone to come give it to you. In this world, you gotta make things happen.

1) I agree... attend to your spiritual life.

2) Give to others. The most valuable thing you can give is your time. Do you know anyone who is sick? Anyone who is lonely? Anyone who could use a visit?

3) Find a purpose and take daily baby steps to getting it off the launching pad. Start small. Make small, achievable goals to start. You must find a purpose, even if you think your purpose may change after re-evaluation. Defining ANY purpose is your starting point.

read the bible, and learn about the God of Abraham, issac, and Jacob.

Read the books of proverbs in the old testament, and in the new testament read the two books of peter. Those chapters teach you a ton about life.

Agree.

On another note, it is interesting how cyclical and sometimes even predictable depression can be. It has recently dawned on me that most Mondays I wake up feeling very out of sorts and go through most of the day in what I would call a depressed state. Oddly, today is a very rare exception. This could be because I have been defining some new purpose for my life and my subconscious is responding to that. Offered FWIW.

If you don't already, try weightlifting. Also, consider adding some running and sprints into your walking routine.

Try:

Couples dancing lessons
Finding a pub/bar that has trivia night
Join a team sport
Take classes if you're not already
