I started on Creatine Feb 6th that is today the 22nd of March 44 days I have been taking it and I have just a bit more in this jug to go.

My question is this, once this jug is empty should I stop taking it and if yes for how long?

I also know Creatine is helpful for others things as well. Should I just go now and buy another jug but it sure hell won't be this GNC crap Muscle Tech it's loaded with to much sugar.

Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.

Creatine is a good supplement though not essential; if you can afford it once you've covered your vitamin and protein (power+solid food) needs then go for a generic bulk CEE from online, it'll be really cheap.

Thanks Alex, I like the word cheap of coarse quality above all else. I'll do a google and see what I can find on generic creatine.

Forgot to ask.

Should I stop taking creatine like cycle off of it for say a week, month etc., or just continue taking it like I have without stoppage?

I've been taking around 5g or 10g after workouts daily or two scoops worth.

Thanks,
LoneSilver

you're supposed to take creatine BEFORE your workout.

Once it's in your system after the so called loading phrase it was my understanding I could just then take it post workout since thats when your muscles need it most unless I misunderstood someone who is very much experienced in the matter but I stand to be corrected if it is so.

Actually on my creatine it says to take it post workout. I take it before pre and post workout though.

depends on the bottle. some (e.g. GNC Mega Creatine) says to take it within 10 minutes after workout.

Creatine, in general, gives you a small boost in energy, and is used just as your muscles are starting to contract. When you "explode" up, that's when the creatine in your muscles gets used, so taking creatine just before a workout helps you push yourself just that extra little bit further. This is assuming that you're already giving 110% effort, or else its kind of pointless and a waste of money.

What I do:

Preworkout shake: Whey + creatine and a banana

Postworkout shake: Whey + glutamine + oats

Some of the bigger guys take a midworkout shake, I'm not sure if they take creatine then or not...

Creatine isn't an amino acid and doesn't help build muscle, its just an acid that helps supply energy to muscle cells...Sort of pointless to take afterwards, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt...I don't do it though, its too expensive, and I've heard glutamine + protein + carbs + fat? is all you need postworkout.

My two cents.

OK some good info here.

At anytime do you break from taking creatine like a week or month after you've taken it say for about a month or so to those who are taking it now or have for awhle I am on my 6th week or 45th day today?

I am still deciding if I want to continue with creatine and just concentrate on protein and diet etc., but I also understand creatine has many other benefits outside of muscle building.

It doesn't matter when you take creatine. You just need to take it on a regular basis.

Only take it around workouts...

Your body produces it naturally, and yes I think(not 100% sure) that taking too much too frequently might slow down your body's natural release of it. Don't take my word for it though.

It's just creatine. It's not like you take it and *poof* your muscles are more powerful. It takes time and it's in your system for about 24hrs. I don't really see the point of taking it after because the next time you workout, it's a day later. And before, you'll probably not have all the creatine fully in your system. I think you should take it in the morning(unless you workout in the morning).

Is a google search really that hard? You're all just making up random things.
