Does working your core muscles push out your abs to make them apear bigger? Also to a boxer do you think it would help them have more power in the punches...thanks for your advice

The core is the link between what you hit with and what makes it powerful, ie your hips and good grounding. Therefore it is potentially the weak link in the chain.

So it's not so stupid to squat for harder punching combined with necesarry bag work and sparring. The squat build hip power and stablising muscles that make up the core (this includes lower back, not just abs).

Turkish get ups with weight are proably the best allround core developer. Remember some of the best fighters in the world have very strong cores, however many of them have a total absence of the washboard effect.

Is your core your abs, lower back, muscles inside between ur ab and back and also your ass muscles? Also alpine my thai boxing instructor has trained in wing chun Im gonna get him to show me a few things. How you getting on with it?

There are muscles inside the hips too that are responible for your core movements.
