Conversating with people in general

I have a couple questions to ask to you guys about conversation. Which do you guys believe is more important in a conversation quality or quantity? What I mean is quality=3 or 4 interesting topics or quantity= running your mouth all day and night about whatever comes into mind. I have found that the more I talk about interesting topics people are receptive and want to talk more, but I find it boring talking about the same stuff all the time. The thing is though that I have more fun when I m just babbling all the time about whatever I feel like saying or doing, but people are either too serious or just not interested when I act this way. What's your opinion on it quality or quantity?

Conversate and conversating are not words. Converse and conversing are the right words. Sorry but the thread topic and then obvious word gaffe made me lol =P.
