Confidence Issue with getting girls

I have a problem with my self confidence and self image. I am about 20 lb overweight and it kills me. I am currently in the process of losing it, but I can't bear the thought of a girl seeing me shirtless. The fact I have a gut stops me from trying to get any girls. I would be way too embarrassed to get involved with a girl and have her find out that I am overweight. I feel like she would be grossed out.

I feel like I am good looking, and I don't look overweight with a shirt on. They might be surprised to see that I have a gut and look terrible shirtless. That's what's stopping me from doing well with girls.

Well, hammering in the fact that you have low confidence by seeing your name as "LowConfidence" every time you make a post probably isn't going to help.

Out of curiosity, how old are you, how much do you weigh, and how tall are you? It sounds to me like what you need to do, if your extra 20 lbs is bothering you that much, is take a look at your diet and exercise. Short of liposuction, your fat isn't just going to magically disappear just because you whine about it - check out the "Cutting Guide" in Health & Fitness. If you lose 2 lbs a week, it'll only take you 2 1/2 months to take off your extra weight. 1 lb a week, 5 months. Timing is all on you.

Moved to Health & Fitness (since I really don't see any question or discussion regarding attracting/meeting/dating girls in your post...)

No, I am in the process of cutting. I am 6'3" 200 lbs. I know how to do it and am having success. This is not a fitness question. But I don't want to have my entire ego tied up in the way I look. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and how they have overcome it.

I was very underweight and felt bad about it. Then i bulked up and it was resolved. Even though we don't want it too, our appearance does effect our self image and self confidence.
