this is the story -

Supposedly i fininished my A.A.S. last semester (associates) and this semester im in the process of doing my application to transfer to another College to complete my Bachelors for next semester. I sent in all the **** that was needed.

so now i ****ing find out i may not have completed my Associates and may have to waste another ****ing semester (which from now until then would be 1 ****ing year!) working again or not transfer at all.

The ***** advisor i spoke to said i had completed all my required courses for my associates....Now im totally screwed cause i listend to her.

I'm going to the College tomorrow to see why i dont have my associates and try to settle it....Either i -

a) ask them to let me slide that 1 class i didnt take and give me my associates
b) Somehow hope to get lucky and have them throw me into my required class during the middle of this semester.
c) take the required class in my old college during the summer and go to the admissions office in the college im transfering to and ask them to admit me and allow me to register for fall 05 courses.
d)take the required class in my old college during fall 05 and go to the admissions office in the college im transfering to and ask them to let admit me and allow me to register for fall 05 courses.

If the above doesnt work, im totally ****ed, PLEASE help!!
especially those who have been in my situation! what do i do!!??

I also had some bad experiences with sh1tty advisors in my college, so i can relate.
But i doubt that you will be able to work something out, because in the end its your responsibility to know and understand your academic standing and everything you have to do for a dimploma. Most likely they'll say just that and you'll still have to take that class before you can transfer.

find out if you can take a "condensed course". i'm not sure how it works where you live but over here i can take a regular 4-month class in 1.5-2 months. its obviously more intense but is definately worth it if you have time constraints.

Speak to the dean. They may end up saying what Levex already said, though - that an "advisors" job is to "advise". Your job is to check and see that everything is correct, especially when it's something as important as seeing if you have enough of the proper courses to graduate fromt he university. Obviously, you haven't finished all of your courses. Even if the advisor made a mistake and told you that you had, it's not like the college is just going to say "Oh, we're sorry s/he said that, here's a free 6 hours for you". The only thing the advisor did was make a mistake in what the requirements for the other college/degree were. The problem that you made is not having enough credit hours for whatever the correct requirement is. So, either way, you're still going to have to finish the hours in order to get that transfer out... good luck.

Also, you could file a grievance against the advisor, but I really doubt that's going to accomplish anything at all. Best thing you can do now is just suck it up, take the hours, and be more responsible for knowing what you need to have in order to transfer next time.

If you have any extra classes that you took over the semesters that are not related to you getting a degree, you may be able to transfer the credit hours from that extra class to you missing required class. Of course in most cases the extra class has to be somewhat similair to the class your trying to replace, and also this service may not be available at your college.
