I DJ private parties and sometimes stand-in for some local club DJ's and I have a question for you guys. What songs get you on the dance floor?

From experience I've learned that I get the best response from these songs (in no particular order):

1. The Way You Move - Outkast

2: California Love - 2Pac & Dr. Dre

3: Without Me - Eminem

4: Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice

5: Baby Got Back - Sir Mix Alot

6: Get Low - Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz

7: Yeah! - Usher

8: Rock Your Body - Justin Timberlake

9: Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC

10: Brass Monkey - Beastie Boys

11: Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield

Two songs I hate but still get numerous requests for everytime I spin:

1: Cha Cha Song

2: Electric Slide

Those are just a few I can think of right now. What makes you get your groove on?

Very commercial... but get awesome reactions in clubs. This is the cream of the crop of my actual "party music" list.

Terror Squad - Lean Back
LL Cool J feat. Timbaland - Headsprung
Game Ft 50 Cent - This Is How We Do
50 Cent - Disco Inferno
Ja Rule- New York
J-Kwon - Tipsy
Houston feat. I-20, Chingy & Nate Dogg - I Like That
Sean Paul - Get Busy
Sean Paul - Like Glue
Tok - Chi-Chi Man
wayne wonder - No Letting Go
Ludacris - Move *****
50 Cent - In Da Club
Punjabi MC feat. Jay-Z - Beware Of The Boys
Joe Budden - Pump It Up
DMX - Ruff Ryderz Anthem
And of course... Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg - The Next Episode

"If the beat is right she'll dance all night" - Chris Rock

But I suggest
Damn - Lil John and the East Side boys
Get Back - Ludacris
Signs - Snoop Dogg & Justin Timberlake
Bring em out - TI
Dirt of your shoulders - Jay Z
Beutiful - Snoop Dogg & Pherell
Like a pimp - David Banner
Never Scared - Bone Crusher
In my life - Juvenile Feat. Manny
Made you Look - Nas
There are tons... too many to list that get the blood pumpin

R n B? Sean Paul?
This is exactly the stuff that gets me OFF the dancefloor. I hate it how bland, repetitive, monotomous rubbish is taking over the clubbing world. The dancefloor used to be about DANCING. not stepping from side to side to music with as much passion & life as a labotomised squirel.

Music that gets your blood pumping & lifts your soul to new levels..

Prodigy - Out of space
Prodigy - No good (start the dance)
Prodigy - Breathe
Chemical Brothers - hey girl hey boy
Chemical Brothers - Block rockin beats
SL2 - On a raggatip
N Trance - Set you free
Underworld - Born slippy
Capella - Move on baby
Atlantic Ocean - Waterfall
Divine Inspiration - The Way (put your hand in my hand)

I could go on & on.. But, well, i just HATE how bland & un-exciting clubs have become.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

How about instead of *****ing about what music is good, you type what you think is good, and let people DECIDE on there own if they like it. Not turn this into a flame war.:woo:

Thanks to everyone for all the responses.

I usually have extremely diverse crowds and I have to try and keep everybodies personal taste in mind so all the suggestions will help me a lot.

Sadly, techno/trance/house doesn't get a very welcome response. I wish more people would be open minded to those genre's but mainstream radio cuts and 80's rock/pop are what gets the floors packed in most clubs and parties that I spin at.

Penkitten, I would love to spin at your wedding. When and where is it going to be?

Sadly, techno/trance/house doesn’t get a very welcome response.
I know, right. People complain the music is repetitive yet listen to practically any other genre of music and you will hear a repetitive musical composition once lyrics are stripped away, and such progressive genres as deep house and hard house have non-repetitive elements, the mixing in other genres like jazz or rock. Europe loves techno so it’s obviously not too repetitive for them.

The best explanation I have heard as to why electronica is no longer popular as it was back in the late 1990’s is drugs. People listened to electronica while high and when those people burnt out on ecstasy so did the genre. Many times I truly feel like I am living on the wrong continent. I love the music for the sake it and it’s exceedingly rare to find fellow listeners.

Play “Silence” by Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan. It’s my all-time favorite non-techno song. Or for kicks play PQM’s “You Are Sleeping” (Luke Chable remix).
