Hey fellas, I've been reading the DJ bible, and a lot on these forums. I can't remember where I read it now, but it was something about how you handle yourself when the girl does something you don't like. My girlfriend can't put her phone down. We see each other about once a week and then on the weekends. If we're watching TV or a movie she'll be on her phone on facebook or reading the news or instagram, whatever. I see it as she's not fully there with me spending time together, but beside each other while she's distracted with social media. I'm not sure how to handle this. I've told her to put it away when we're hanging out, as well if she's on it and wants me to cuddle I'll say no, until she gets off it. What else can I do to handle this?

Let me guess, she's younger than 23? Also, this girl should be lit up like a christmas tree near you, she should be all over you. Don't tell "please babe, pay attention to me, turn your cell phone off pleeeease", just do the same as her and distance yourself.

I would tease her that the phone is like an appendage to her and she can't live without it.

Haha she's 24. And I have begun distancing myself on my own phone when she does this, but it doesn't really bother her she just continues on. I've also teased her about it, she laughs and shrugs it off, when I'm more serious about it she may roll her eyes and shut it off or just put it away. I personally don't even really touch my phone when I'm spending time with her unless I get a phone call or unless she's on her phone awhile. I just don't want to voice my opinion on it without seeming like I'm complaining about it all the time

Man up and tell her you find it rude and will not tolerate this rude behaviour from her.

I have told her that it's rude, and to put it away. My question is it continues on, so what, do I just get up and go home if I'm at her place? Kick her out if she's at mine? Haha that's where I'm lost a bit as how best to handle it

Let her mess on Instagram while you're doggystylin her. Other than that, why hang with this social media addict?

Just pull your phone out and ignore her until she puts hers away. She will get the hint. Tell her no more phones while we are hangin. Should solve your problem.

Next time you are at her place, ask her if she can leave the phone alone while you are there.

You: Hey, I'd appreciate it if you can leave the phone alone when we are together.

Her: Why? What's the big deal?

You: So...can you.

Her : Well, is it really that important!!??

You: so can you or not?

Her: Huffs. YEAH, I guess......GAWD.

Watching movie on couch.......half hour passes....she picks phone up to go on social media.

You: (getting jacket on) Well, I gotta run.

Her: Why??

You : (Getting shoes on) My time is valuable to me

Her: Wait are you mad about the phone ??

You: (closing door behind you) Bye
Sounds like a beta and butthurt move.

Mauser96's advice is good.

I've pretty much done the exact same thing. I was out having a nice breakfast date with my gf when she decided to pull her phone out and go on facebook. I gave her a wtf look, got up and left her there. She hasn't done it again.

I was on a date with a girl constantly on her phone. I videoed her doing So and later asked her if she could be me for 30 seconds what would she like to see. She said she'd like to know how I saw her so I sent her the video with a text saying ' what it's like on a date with ....'

Good advice? He lost his frame, he questioned her, she disrespected him, she didn't listen to him, he got upset, stormed off in a huff. very beta. Better ways to get her not to use the phone than that.

I wouldn't try to change her...

I'd just find a different woman if it was that bad and bothered me. You had to know she was a social media addict before you started dating right??? Trying to change her at this point will make this the issue.... and it will be the issue until one party is the clear winner........ by the sounds of things - that winner will not be you.

I hang out with a woman who spends a lot of time on instagram.... but i don't give a fvck because that's less talking i have to do with her. As long as she's wet when i slip my hand under her waistband - that's all i care about.

Limeslush,

I don't even see a problem with this situation. The last thing I want is to be bothered by my girlfriend while I'm watching a movie. Unless she's choosing her phone over sex, enjoy the peace and quiet!

Pound her out, chill out, and then roll out.

At least, that's how I like my gf/plate interactions to go.
