I was watching the news the other evening on CNN. They were covering the Casey Anthony trial. They asked:

"If Casey were on the stand and under oath, what question would you ask her"?

I thought about it and this would be my question:

Why the fvck is CNN covering your trial nearly 24/7 despite the fact that we are fighting three wars, have a 14 trillion national debt and have one of the most important elections looming on the horizon in 2012? Please tell me Ms.Anthony. Why is that?

The media feeds on sensationalism. If not for ratings, this would not be the case. Many people would rather hear about Casey, Anthony Weiners crotch pics or Arnolds love child than current events that truly matter.

Doesn't say much for many of the American people now does it? :trouble:

Ask yourself :

1)For who majority of tv programs/shows are made for?
(easily understood finding the target of the advertisments and who base his opinion on other people opinion).

2)Is that target more concerned about problems that require knowledge and logical reasoning or just want to be simply entartained or provided of emotions and drama?

Here your answer.

There's also the conspiracist theory where they simply feed the people with something meaningless in order to keep them away from thinking whats going on.

I care about the future of this country, but what the hell am I supposed to do about it? Should I take a day off from work to go protest on a street corner; should I email my representatives 100 times a day; should I scream my views to anybody who'll listen; seriously, what am I supposed to do?

I think most people see the futility in it all and just say "fvck it."

Brother 5-String, I feel you my man.

What I've come to realize is that my give-a-damn has run dry. I can't save whales from the slants. I can't save Sarah Mclachlan's cats. I can't find my girlfriend's car keys for her.

All I have is my immediate space. I can wish for all of the empathy my heart can contain, but the reality smacks me in the face repeatedly: All I can control is my immediate space.

Now, onto this Casey Anthony thing. This sh!t happened 35 miles from my front door. It's interesting to me because it happened within my space. I was emotionally involved through the entire ordeal. A colleague of mine is friends with Caylee's Father. We all shared tears together over the tragedy of this poor little girl's death.

To my understanding, there once was an era when journalism had a much stronger focus on hard news and officialdom, but since the age of feminism the power dynamics have shifted and many if not most news directors are women, who place a greater focus on soft news, supposedly taunting the relevance to people's ordinary lives. In fact, CNN's Headline News used to be good at delivering news but its format was changed to soft news because apparently nobody was watching.

The story of a psychopath is nothing new in the great scheme of things, but the case of Casey Anthony has one rare twist: she's smokin' hot white party chick. If she was ugly, if she was orca whale fat, if she was a black welfare mom, she would have received brief mention and then slipped into oblivion. The last trial near this magnitude was Andrea Yates who had drowned her four children in a bathtub—but that was of social significance because postpartum depression does sometimes happen.

Not to diminish the tragedy of the little girl, it's just that the media zeroes in on the stories that tear at peoples hearts. This is one of them. However, to give it THAT much coverage and literally ignore more pressing/important issues is just wrong. Many people in the country are more concerned about what episode of Housewives Of Podunk is on next or what reality show they are going to watch that night rather than immersing themselves in issues that affect us all.

I for one will speak up on the issues at hand. I may not be heard, but I won't turn a blind eye and remain mum.

I'm an unabashed wh0re for "reality" tv. I watch every Ink (Miami, L.A., N.Y., London, I'm trying to talk the guys who do all of my work to let me film, edit, write, and produce a show in the shop).

It's all skewed. Editing is everything. I look through a Director's eye and can tell you nothing is what it is on it's surface.

The Casey Anthony thing is more nerve-touching because it's one of the "Golden" children who's being accused of killing this girl. A Caucasian woman, who's very attractive, is not who the general population wants to believe can be the girl next door child murderess.

Rogue is absolutely correct that other nationalities do worse sh!t to people, on a daily basis. But Casey Anthony is what young girls are raised to epitomize as a Princess.

I speak my mind when I choose. Most of the time I catch myself preaching rather than trying to rationalize with numbnuts. It doesn't suit me, nor is it beneficial for my time management, to change people's minds about sh!t they truly have no original opinion of anyway.

Good thread brother.

Pretty girl principle. Casey Anthony is reasonably attractive so people will be interested. If some young woman like her disappeared, it would also be on the news. If she was allegedly murdered by her husband, same thing. There have been many stories like this. It was the same with that murder case with the American college girl in Italy. After this one it will be another one.

seems like we are acting like Romans just before the fall of Rome.

This is what a dying empire looks like. We've given up on building things and are addicted to spectacle and sex.

There's nothing we can do to fix this country's problems and our government doesn't seem interested in doing anything, so we may as well stop worrying about it and enjoy the collapse: http://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2011/04/americas-collapse-causing-depression-in.html

Anyway the only reason anyone cares about this case is that she's hot. If she was the typical ugly fat woman that does this kind of stuff nobody would care. Just like how we're STILL hearing about Natalie Holloway but dozens of ugly fat girls go missing every year and nobody gives a ****.

This is what happens when Oprah goes off the air. When all the fat house fraus aren't getting their regular injection of indignation they get violent.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Yo Rollo, this has got be the quote of the YEAR!

To a lot of women, I'll bet taking Oprah off the air is about the same as snatching Linus' "security blanket" outta his hands.

In other words, there's bound to be "consequences and repercussions"...

Meanwhile, on a related topic:

Show me a woman who DOESN'T like Oprah and is willing to say it out loud "in public", and I'll show you a woman who's about 2 seconds away from getting her "chick-card" REVOKED.
