Hey guys,

Been lifting 5x/week and playing basketball twice a week.

I went low-carb a couple days this past week--I didn't really seem that tired or out of it as I thought I would. However, the morning I started back with higher carbs (had oatmeal) and than for lunch had salad with dressing, croutons, etc., I started to feel tired after the meal. I seemed to be in a deep fog, like the feeling one gets after a really great Thanksgiving dinner..or the feeling you get when you are more than buzzed and just about to be drunk. A sort of lethargic...'whoa' feeling going on.

Anyone else feel like carbs make them tired?

Either I missed something, or your punishing your body. What does your weight training consist of, post a typical week.

Roughly 20% of the world's population tolerate carbs, the rest don't. Your results suggest a poor insulin sensitivity, therefore you're probably better suited to lower carb diets.

Five times a week isnt that bad.

Chest/Back/Legs/Shoulders/Arms.

I am not going to change my routine, because I find it effective and it gives me the right amount of time and recovery.

Anyway, the sensitivity thing: I guess may be I do. However, I have had carbs all my life and been fine. It's just when I cut back I notice a change when I go back "up."

Carb tolerance worsens over time. If your body has trouble adjusting back to a higher carb diet then you don't need the extra carbs. But with a 5 day split (which I would NOT recommend but if you like it, stick with it) you'll need all the carbs you can get.
