I know it's a good idea to cut carbs at least a few hours before bed, and that the PWO & PPWO meals should contain carbs, but what if I train at night? Is it OK to skip the carbs here? I usually will have a little bit of a simple carb and protein with my PWO meals, but will just have protein & fat as a PPWO meal before bed. I would like to keep bodyfat as low as possible. This is my routine, obviously size is not my primary objective:

Monday:

Morning or evening: Infinite Intensity strength workout w/ finisher
Afternoon: BJJ Training 2 hours

Tuesday:

Morning or afternoon: Interval running/hill sprinting OR GPP training, core training
Evening: BJJ Training 1 hour

Wednesday:

Morning or evening: Warrior Challenge w/ finisher
Afternoon: BJJ Training 2 hours

Thursday:

Morning or afternoon: Interval running/hill sprinting OR GPP training, Core training
Evening: BJJ Training 1 hour

Friday:

Squat, bench press, deadlift, bodyweight circuit OR squat, overhead press, power clean, bodyweight circuit

Saturday:

(optional) Morning: GPP OR Warrior Challenge OR 3-5 mile run
Afternoon: BJJ training 2 hours

Sunday: Rest

Never skip carbs after a lifting workout no matter what time it is

Very little of the carbs after a workout are going to be stored as fat. They're going to replenish the muscle glycogen you just used up. Of course, still don't go overboard with them.

Thanks guys.

I wasn't too concerned about it since I do so much cardio anyway that it's practically impossible for me to gain weight, but just wanted to make sure.

On a similar note, how many carbs do you need after a workout? My protein shake with the milk contains about 20g carbs. Is this enough?
isn't your goal to lose fat? I'd ditch the milk.

I'd say 60-100g carbs depending how big you are. If your goal is to lose fat I'd make at least half of these slow carbs.

I don't know how to make a decent shake without milk. I have about 3 cups of milk a day, which is 36g carbs. I have about 70-80g carbs total.

What's wrong with a shake with water?

Not a bad shake. I think I have the wrong kind of oats cause whenever I have mixed oats in my shake, they don't really dissolve in the shake.
Use quick oats. If you don't have them, grind your oats using your blender.
