I know a few of you guys use the Captains of Crush grippers. I want to order one but I don't know which one to get. I don't want to get one that's too easy but I also don't want to get one that I can't close yet. I've never specifically trained grip strength before but I do a lot of deadlifts, towel pull ups, etc. Any suggestions?

I use "heavy grip" grippers because they have nicer handles and don't squeak.
I have 150lbs but it is too soft for me, I can do over 20 reps with it.
I want a 250lb one and use the 150 as a warm up.

You should probably get the 1 2 3 Kerpal, you're not a beginner.

I think the trainer will be too easy for you. Like I said I have a 150lb one and it was easy the first time I used it and it was also easy for my non training friends. You can always close it with two hands and just do negatives.

Maybe it's because we work on cars.

You deadlift over 400lbs, I don't think you have a weak grip.
1,2 is good for you.
Or even Trainer,1,2 if you really want to. You'll surpass the trainer I think.

Yes Kerpal get the No.1 first.

If you are buying more than one then get the 1.5, then the 2, 2.5, etc.

I think the .5's are a copout, they didn't used to have them a few years ago and people then had no less strong grip than now.

It isn't about having any less a grip. It is about rate of progression. The more weight increments you have available to you, the more effectively you will be able to progress. Making massive jumps in weight is not an effective way to train.

In otherwards, you will get to 2 faster if you incorporate work with a 1.5, rather than solely relying on a 1.

I just remembered this thread. I ended up ordering the #1, and I think it was the right choice. I can close it a few times with each hand, but my right hand is a lot stronger. It's pretty tough, my roommate can't close it with both hands, lol. Moving up to the #2 eventually.
