As a former AFC that has suffered numerous failures with women in the past, I have dedicated myself to self-improvement. I became aware of the right methods in approaching women and now know how to identify attraction when it occurs. A lot of self-confidence was also gained along the way. It took me a while to reach where I stand now but I still got more to learn before I can consider myself a PUA. Ironically, some guys I see have had it naturally going on for them; they were just basically lucky at approaching women and never had to face any rejection. I wonder if this intrinsic skill of theirs will always give them an edge over the ones that had to learn from their mistakes; I wishfully like to think that they do not. Their foundations for success is based on luck and because luck can be overturned, they are bound to experience unfortunate events later in their lives. When these events occur, they will not know how to act and will be left paralyzed for the rest of their lives. On the other hand, the learned DJs like myself would be able to deal with such hard times because we had been through the **** before. The knowledge we have gained about dating and relationships is so solid that there is no way that we can revert back to the old ways of frustration and confusion. They might have an advantage in picking up chicks right now, but I think that in the long run, it is the learned individuals that will prevail.

After a great deal of time you operate like a natural DJ... after about 3 years here people just assume that I was that "confident, charismatic, charming" guy all my life. People were shocked to learn I used to be fat and scared to talk to girls. But you have to put in a lot of time and effort...

I would think a learned DJ and a Natrual DJ would be equally matched. I mean you'd just be doing the same things when it comes down to it. A learned DJ may analyze a little better and from time to time react a bit quicker, but I think even these differences would be marginal.

I don't agree with the belief in a natural player fully. I believe some guys learn it early on like at puberty. I know many o so called naturals that learned the game from older relatives also.

disagree, have you ever heard of the concept natural born salesman?

Anyways, some guys are born with charm, personality and a great smile.

I was never that great with women when I was younger, but girls still liked me because I have a very nice smile and a good personality. Now that I'm more aware of my assets, and can use them to my advantage, I'm more confident and successful with women.

Same holds true. If you have no personality, you may never be able to become a true DJ. But if you learn how to leverage your potential, you can outperform a natural DJ.

just my two cents!

Good post Tony.

I'm oh... 6-8 months or so into this, and I see a dramatic transformation in my abilities already. Even though I can't go out in the field but 1-2x a week due to a very demanding (and rewarding) work life...

I'll put 3 years into learning and practicing. I can make that commitment.

You newbies out there... can you do the same?

You shouldn't worry about what the other guy is doing. You should be worried about your game.

IF all things equal..looks, height, weight, etc..and you get a natural vs a learned DJ..I'm sure both would have similar success with women. However, a learned DJ is more analytical versus a natural.

Being analytical with women doesn't work...sure, it can get you laid...but what fun is taking this step, saying that phrase, acting c/f, using that pattern..

I mirror chasing women similar to ballroom dancing. Ever see a pair, a couple dancing who were natural. They flowed through...their steps seemed flawless. Of course they learned those steps somewhere..but, they integrated it into themselves where it now feels natural to them. I'm sure back in the days when they learned, they counted steps, analyzed their moves, til one day...it became natural.

The most important thing to DJing is to be confident in what you do, and strive to make DJing natural to you. Whether it be with women, at work, at the gym...stop over analyzing and flow with it.

if you play an instrument you will know that in the learning process you play the notes slowly and with thought - and you will make mistakes.
once you have mastered this process, which will take quite a time, the music will flow out of your soul like a stream. in the beginning, movement was a sequence of steps but it has become a passionate dance.
