I am considering buying a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LT. The car has 40000 km, mint condition, leather seats, heated seats, remote starter, 170 horsepower, and drives really smooth. I am putting a down payment on it.

The car is being sold for 12995 plus gst.

Since I am financing the car I will be paying around 110 bi weekly on it.

I am also purchasing it from a dealer rather than private owner.

This is the first car I will have purchased. So any opinions are encouraged.

is it still under factory warranty? $220 a month seems a very low amount for such a car, but I am not all that experienced about such things, either. Have you looked into what your insurance will cost you? Will the dealer give you any sort of warranty, instead of or in addition to the factory warranty? do you have a secure job, able to keep making the payments? have you had your own mechanic look it over closely? Did you get the CarFax on it? is this in UsA?

This is in Canada. I am getting the proof of inspections as well as make sure it was in no prior accidents. It still has 2 year warranty. And yes I have a secure, full time job.
It is also under a 72 months term and I am below 8% interest.

I'm only 19 but I think it would be pretty silly to finance a car if you have the cash to get a used car. I bought a 97' ford ranger with 112k miles on it for 3,000 cash and its still going great.

financing a car can be a great way to build up some credit, if you haven't got any.

You should always drive the type of car you want.

1st of many cars have leather seats, and heated seats, and remote starter is a feature of alarm system, and can be bought for $90. Also most cars drive smooth. 40,000 km is mid point in car's life, soon you will have to change timing belt, and service all kinds of ****.

But I'd ask you think, is Malibu an exciting car? A front wheel drive with an auto gear box excites you?

I'd put it this way, will a woman give you in the back seat of that car?

How old are you? Don't you want some excitement in your life?

All I say here is my opinion, except the fact that you should drive the car that you want, and the fact 2010 Malibu with 40,000 km does not cost $13,000. From hands it should cost you from 8,000 to 9,000, if you can find it.

It's recommend you look for a Mustang GT, 5 speed manual gear box, for around $6,000 to $7,000. Or SVT Contour with 5 speed manual gear box, or something else exciting. It's ok if its year is 2001ish - 2005ish, or even 90s. But you get excitement. Or go a different route and get an off road vehicle with front and rear solid axles, Canada is great for outdoors.

Man, don't be an office plankton and take a blend-in car in credit and just blend-in with other office plankton and just exist. Live it up.
