Hey guys, I want your input on this.

There is this guy selling a 1999 Lexus for $2,860 on craigslist, so I emailed him, but it turns out he is outside of the country...

Here is the email reply I received from him:

Thank you for your interest about my car. Now I am in Scotland, with my work. The total price of the LS 400 is $2,860. The car is registered and located in United States. I want to keep the car for me, but I cannot register it here, as it is made for the USA, according to US standards. So, I decided to sell it.
A few words about the car:
1999 LEXUS LS 400
Mileage: 121.000
Automatic
Title is clean.
Engine: 8 Cylinders
Exterior: White
Interior: Tan
VIN#: JT8BH28F9X0166788

If you have any question please don't hesitate to reply.

Thank you again for your interest

What do you guys think? I think it's a great deal on a '99 Lexus! Although it seriously bothers me that the price is ridiculously low and the owner is outside of America... Any ideas on this situation?

Too damn good? Price vs mileage suggests it's an alright price for car that old. (a lot of miles)

All cars at that mileage will be a headache.

Check out auto trader online and the magazine.

Well, considering most legitimate sellers are asking over $10k for the exact make with more mileage, I'd say it's a deal... Then again, it's not legitimate, so it doesn't matter.. hehe

I'll take your suggestion and check out auto trader online.. I need a reliable car that's good on gas. I'm a college student, so I need some sort of cheap yet non-****ty transportation.

I bought my first car from a guy on craigslist, but found out he was on a car enthusiast site I used. He was an older fellow so I felt a lot better about it. Very upfront and honest. It all depends on what you're getting. In this case I'd lean towards it being a scam...

How else would you get the paperwork done? By fax?
It's a lot cheaper than a round trip flight to/from Glasgow.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

That posting REEKS of scam. Sounds like the same type of people that write from Nigeria to secure lottery funds or outrageous inheritances.

I've had one of those emails.. Regarding a large inheritance.. I was excited for the first 5 minutes, but at the same time I was very suspicious... The excitement wore off when I found the same unique letter all over the web on scam awareness forums when I googled the info..
