I know that political discussion is forbidden here, and I'm not usually one to even care about these issues but I cannot stay silent about this and am hoping to spread the awareness on a horrible event which is going on right now in Burma.
Basically thousands of monks took to the streets to protest the government tyranny and they were joined by hundreds of thousands of Burmese people.
The military police responded by massacring thousands of peaceful protesters under machine gun fire in the streets and they have also killed international journalists who were reporting on the scene.
At this point there is a full media blackout on the event, and all eyes are on China and the UN security council to step in and pressure Burma's rulers to stop the killing.
I signed the following petition to support this pressure
http://www.avaaz.org/en/stand_with_burma/tf.php?CLICK_TF_TRACK
The petition is already up to almost 500,000 in a few days and is being advertised in newspapers around the world, delivered to the UN secretary general, and broadcast to the Burmese people by radio.
The website is trying to get to 1 million signatures this week, please sign the petition and tell everyone!
