I've read DIESELs Guide To Bulking site and from what he says it should last no longer than 8 weeks or so, otherwise your body would be stressed out. Today was my first work out at the Gym and my trainer said it would require 6 months to bulk. He also recommended me to eat three times a day (unlike what this health forum implies)... Any advice? By the way, I'm 5 foot 9 weighing 147 pounds... how do I find my body fat %? Thanks.

Some people skip meals... For example one of my friends always skips breakfast because "it makes me feel hungryer if it eat breakfast"

3 meals a day is better than skipping a meal :)

Eat six times a day.

When DIESEL says 8 weeks, he says to cycle it in 8 week increments so that your body doesn't get super overloaded for a long time... you need to let your body rest for a week every 8 weeks and then continue your bulking. There's no SET time for how long it will take you to bulk, it all depends on how much weight you want to gain, but I'd recommend a week off every 8 weeks, don't even go to the gym that week... let your body recover.

i assume the trainer means that with hard work, people will genuinly say, wowee.. u've put on weight.. i've beeing going to gym seriously now for a month, people only say "you're looking bigger" if i flex for them..
by 6 months, i assume people will definently be able to notice the bulking i've done even whilst wearing clothes.

Like someone posted earlier, do your bulking in cycles. A 6-8 week bulking cycle is enough to produce noticible results. Take a week off after each cycle and restart the cycle again. You wont look like the hulk after your first bulking cycle, but you will have noticible results.
