The bulking thread suggested protein, fat and carbs intake but what about calories? Is calories just the total of protein fat and carbs?

I heard u need around 3000 cal to gain weight.

Food has energy and is usually given a value in calories. Literally someone burns it in a lab and sees how much heat it produces.

Now your confusing calories with food types, they are not the same thing. All proteins, fats carbs have calories.

To gain you need to take in more cals than you burn, but you need a good balance of these key food groups as well as minerals, vitamins etc.

Spend time reading up on this stuff, with many people it's half the battle to gaining.

4cals protein
4cals carb
9cals fat

Enjoy.

Side Note: My new bulking diet gives me 4100kcals a day on a high carb day. Moderate carb day is 3300 and low carb day is 2900kcals. Some people with a real fast metabolism have been known to eat 4500+ to bulk.

DJ,

That's interesting, I've been keeping my cals constant at 600 above maintenance, but read somewhere that cycling the cals and proportion of macro nutrients aided the production of GH & Test.

So I think I'l give it a go myself.

It works quite well. I sort of... how can I put this to make clear sense - I cycle carb cycling [LOL]. I'll have 4000 kcals for about 6 weeks, and then I'll do the carb cycling that I mention above for about 4 weeks. I dont want to put too much stress on my body :)

Either way, this should be about my last post for a while. I know I said that in a different thread, but then I made a thread of my own, and well... y'know - need to get off my ass and into the real world more! :)

Good luck with the training guys!

If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Oh, I'm doing this, it's an experiment so may not be beneficial.

three days 2g/lb bodyweight protien, 4 days 1g/lb and make up with complex carbs and some fat.

Training days get an extra 300 cals and the day after.

The theory on protein cycling is you get an anabolic boost, but it only lasts 3 days. The calaorie cycling stops your body adapting to higher cals like slimmers use.

I will do it strict for a while but it's going to be a pain in the arse. It's bad enough counting cals normally.

The only thing that changes are your carbs. Keep protein intake the same.

Carbohydrates can have an almost steroid like effect when you get it down to a 'T' - you just need to know what ratio's to use for your specific body.

And for christ sakes, I'm getting the fvck off these boards! :p
