Braces 34 years old!!! IS That big of a deal?

Yep that's right , finally i'm gonna use them, i had crooked teeth my parent's couldn't afford them when i was a kid and so now i talked to my dentist so she said that age my isn't a major issue of concern. I dont know when im gonna advance to get them but possibly july (1500 € + control consults €50 each so all in all it's a total of €2000).

I wonder what the major issues of using them are besides having to use them 1year + . Are they a big turn off with women, will i pass as a geek or something. Has anyone had really bad experiences? The only thing that motivates me is that i will have the possibility to smile to girls more often.

You will get NO action with braces. I have seen myself get NO girls since I got mine fitted and I'm 17 but did amazingly beforehand, so at 34 I'm sure you are screwed in terms of women if you get them.

Here's my advice:

Pay the money, and get them fitted on the back of your teeth, you will thank yourself later, I promise. There are lots of stealth-methods and I STRONGLY suggest you use them instead of the normal ways. If you get normal braces you will find it VERY hard to get attention from females.

this guys advice to get clear ones, but even then, I think they might be more noticeable than on the back.

Damn. Braces suck. I had them removed early because I just couldn't stand em any longer.

But, if you need em. You need em. There are plenty of adults who wear braces. Who cares what other people think?

A lot of guys that lose their hair also lose their CONFIDENCE, which is what kills them with the ladies. So stay confident. I'm sure some girls will even think its "cute". Besides, a quality girl will appreciate that you're trying to improve yourself, no?

You have to pay for orthodontic treatment, and invisalign etc is expensive. However when you already have to spend like, 1500, the extra is worth it. I get my braces removed at the end of April.

Braces, of course, are not ideal. But they'll only slow you down if you let them. If I meet some awesome girl, and she happens to have braces, I'm not gonna let that stop me from getting her.

I've braces now. I had a choice between getting the normal ones or expensive hidden ones. I got the normal braces and to be honest I don't think anybody in their right mind would have a problem with braces. In fact it shows you're looking after your teeth which is a good sign.

I got braces pretty late in life. I was in my early 20s. Who cares if it looked weird for a year or so. When I got them off, my teeth were perfect. It was the best $1500 bucks I ever spent. Do it. If you think it looks weird at 34, it won't look any better at 44. Get it done as soon as possible. Quicker you get them on, the quicker they come off.

It will make absolutely no difference at all if you just OWN IT. Embrace it and make no apologies for it, and it could even work in your favor. Now you've got natural peacocking at work. How many 34 year olds have braces? You stand out instantly. Use that attention to your advantage.

I haven't read all the replies, but people saying you won't get action with braces are stupid. I got my braces when I was 23 because my teeth were horrible and they affected my self-image because when I laughed I use to cover up my mouth because my teeth were so horrible.

I got my braces when had a girlfriend, and after the break up I didn't have any problems scoring chicks. In fact, quite a few people were interested about making out with a dude with braces. I even got a current lead that made hints about it.

Trust me, getting those braces are def worth it!. I've endured mine for 3 years(because I had to undergo jaw surgery half way through) and when they come out next month, I'll have the best f*cking smile EVER.

OP even if it does hinder you to some extent... think of the long term benefits... which will outweigh the temporary setbacks...

as you improving you teeth why no improve you bogy and join a gym as well - it will result in a "new and improved you"!

I had braces for 6 years. Got them away when I was 15.

Didn't notice any difficulty getting laid though.
