Have you ever been really down and not been able to pick yourself out of it? Something bad happened and you asked yourself "How come this happen to me?", "Why am I so depressed?", "Why don't girls find me attractive?", "How come girls don't like me?" etc.? Ever noticed you, often unconsciously, ask yourself these things and you feel even worse? You often come up with excuses that hold you back. "I'm too skinny.", "I don't drive nice enough of a car or wear the right clothes.", "My genetics hold me back.", "My family life when I was growing up was bad and yadda yadda excuse yadda excuse." Well don't get all caught up in it. Everyone has done this at one point in time in their life- but you don't have to any more.
"Ok, that makes sense.. but how do I fix this?" you ask.. Now thats a better question and I'll give you a better answer.
You must figure out how you want to feel, and design questions to make you feel and perform at your best. I'll give you some examples that were suggested to me where I learned this and then the ones I designed after to fit my DJ lifestyle.
Before DJ
1. What am I most happy about right now?
2. What am I really excited about in my life right now?
3. What am I really grateful for in my life right now?
4. What are you really proud of in your life right now?
5. Who do you really love most in your life and who loves you?
Now here are my DJ questions.
1. WHO DA MAN? (Followed always by me shouting IM DA MAN! Thanks to stuartSan's post on Mental State for this one.)
2. Why do I ALWAYS come out on top no matter what?
3. How come I can get/do anything I could ever want?
4. Why am I the smoothest/baddest Don, and how can I improve while keeping my roll?
(that last one is key. Keeping my roll is my 'smooth slang' for feeling like I am on a roll and not being able to be stopped.)
Now its your turn. I want you to go and make yourself a list of questions that not only help you get the results you want in your life, but make you feel the way you want to on a regular basis. But it doesn't stop there. When you read these questions to yourself make sure you consciously answer them- even if the answer seems silly or stupid. Remember, you didn't need good answers to feel bad (just stupid excuses) so you don't need them to feel good either.
