Hi all,

I'm 6'2", maybe 6'3" if I worked on my posture, wondering what an ideal weight would be according to you guys in terms of appearance. I am not going for body builder, but definitely hoping for an athletic/muscular look. Right now I'm way too skinny at about 170 and I'm thinking about 190 would be good, 200 probably better. Would be nice to have a realistic number goal (eg maybe 190 will still look skinny or 200 will look fat or something). Thanks a lot!

If you're looking for aesthetically pleasing, stick to low bodyfat... I think lotsa NFL players have great builds... Of course they're world class professional athletes. Here's a vid of Cameron Wake... LB for the 'fins... I think he's 6'3" ... around 240 or 250...

you can be 6'2 200 pounds with a gut or you could be 6'2 285 with no gut. its depends.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

Did you make a couple of these people mad with your other 4 posts? 275+ would make you morbidly obese (35+ BMI). Try about 185 to 200 pounds max, with as low a body fat percentage as you can muster with diet and exercise. And 200 is actually a bit high, but I accept that a bit of extra muscle is a nice asthetic trade-off for scientifically proven health benefits of being lower weight.

Big athletes on TV get hot women because they are ......... rich, not because they are too damn big.

BMI in my opinion is a largely meaningless and misleading number when attributed to lean highly muscular individuals. I'm currently sitting at around 180 lbs at 5'8" ... that would make me overweight... Last time I had bf% checked I was around 10-11%.

When I was stripping I was around 165 at the same height... I wasn't rich as I was a fulltime student. I drove a bright red 1995 Neon with a busted speedometer, oh and the driver's side door didn't work either... I couldn't afford my own apartment so I had to share a small apartment with a couple. I got women because of my sex/social appeal, them perceiving me as a bad boy due to my drug use and just the overall "fun" effect.

In my opinion, hot highly phuckable women are instinctively drawn to hypermasculine guys. Most women in my opinion are naturally drawn to a lean, muscular physique that's well balanced w/ a strong v-taper, symmetry, balance that resonates athleticism, power and dominance. Remember I've done HUNDREDS of shows taking my clothes off for screaming girls... so just speaking from experience. Anytime I'm hanging out with a bunch of jacked up dudes we have hot girls around us.

If you're an athlete/bodybuilder, try using FFMI (fat free mass index) as a better measurement. Just google it.

This is a pretty comprehensive article on measurements:

Azanon, I'm 6'3" and I got down to 180 lbs once. I looked disgusting. I seriously looked like a starving Ethiopian that you see on t.v.

I need to be around 220 lbs before I don't look too skinny. My natural state is about 240 (if I eat decent and make half-as$ed attempts at the gym.)

There's a HUGE difference between BMI of 27.4 (yours) and 35+ that some suggested here. The up to 200 I recommended would have him over 25. If* you actually have a BF% of 10-11%, then you are entirely OK at that weight, and dietitians would definitely allow that exception in your case. I'm not sure I could obtain that low a BF% if I did everything right. Some people just don't have the proper somatotype.

* BF% some people report are dubious. For example, at my gym, I have friends that choose the "athlete" setting on the professional Tantia machine they have there when they should be choosing "normal" (which will give about a 3% higher BF%). In the manual (which they most certainly did not read), "Athlete" is defined as professional athlete typically receiving a minimum 4 hours/day exercise 7 days a week. When I tell them mine is 17.2%, they say "no way, yours must be lower". I just avoid the argument and don't tell them I choose the proper "normal" setting instead of fooling myself into thinking it's 14.

Again, for looks, I suggest low body fat approach with BMI that can slightly go over 25. 180 would have you at 22.5 BMI. A healthy BMI no doubt, but not the best looking. 220 is a bit high just strictly looking at BMI, but if you can pull that off with a BF% of less than 17, have at it.

To the both of you guys, I have no issues with being slightly over 25. It was the 35+ BMI suggestions that I was poo-pooing on. Bad idea. Definitely only suggested if you want to be unhealthy and look like a meat-head.

Life is about balance. With your body, shoot for something that's healthy, but also attractive too. Don't completely sell out to one or the other.

BTW, I'm currently 5'11", 166, and BF% of 17.2 and 39 years old. I'd love 180 at 17% or less BF, but the times I've tried it, the BF just goes above 20. Oh well. I play tennis mainly, so I don't want to lug around too much fat weight, and I prefer the lean look even if it mandates that I be lower weight.

BMI would be more accurate if your 1RM deadlift was one of the inputs.

If i was going to pick some random, unrelated physical test, to use with BMI, I'd go with your 5K time. If one can run a 5K under 20 minutes, by all means be "morbidly obese". Of course, that likely ain't gonna happen.

Deadlifts are all the rave here for some reason. At my gym (Powerhouse) I probably see someone doing them once a month. And usually, it's some overweight dude with arms permanently stuck in an "L" shape that thinks he looks good but doesn't realize he actually looks like a gorilla. Forgive my venting. I can't tell theses guys that in the gym because I admit they are quite capable of ripping my arms off. But I think the attractive women in the gym think they look as silly as I do though.

In all fairness, I tried deadlifts and they just end up hurting my back a day or two later. And yes, I did them right and even asked one of the trainers to watch me to ensure I had proper forum.
