So I applied to this summer internship program for highschool students hoping to get a local job at my city but it turns out i didn't get in (I'm on the waiting list). I'm bummed out cause i really neeed the job for money.

SO here i am, average dude without money. I volunteer at a local preschool every morning but i really want a freakin job. Volunteering is great but i need money. Money makes the world go round.

How would you go about a quick summer job?

Do i just walk in a local store and ask for employment? Does it work like that? Insights or responses is appreciated.

If you don't have a car you probably want to work walking distance. Just go to any store like grocery stores and fastfood places are probably your best bet. Then you just ask if they are hiring and if they say yeah then just ask for an application. Then fill it out. Use black pen and have good grammar. For job experience just put down your volunteering at a preschool. Then turn the application in and the person will probably call you and make you interview and ****. Thats pretty much it.
