Best way to hook up with this girl

I'm in college, and at the beginning of the year my roomate met this girl who he started inviting to our parties. She started bringing a couple of her roomates over when she came, one of whom is a HB8. For the past few months, they have been coming over about every other weekend to drink and hang out. I have not yet made any attempt to hook up with the HB8 due to a (now) ex-GF and other minor things. However, in talking to her I always kept everything light and playful, no AFC behavior.

Last week, my friend hooked up with the HB8's friend (the one who originally started hanging out with us), and probably will again. This friend, in talking to the HB8, found that she's got an AFC chasing her who she doesn't like and was talking about how the best excuse would be to hook up with another guy and tell this AFC that, although there was no mention of a particular guy.

This weekend we're having a big party and all those girls are coming over. I want to hook up with HB8, but I'm not sure of the best way to go about it. We've been friends for several months and I have her #, but we only really talk when we see each other on campus or at these weekend parties. What would be the best way to approach this situation? Should I call her and try to set up a lunch or something this week, before the party, or should I just wait until the party to try to hook up with her, and risk making things awkward since we're all a group of friends who hangs out on weekends pretty regularly? She has no idea I'm interested in hooking up with her, but I haven't done anything yet that would put me in the friend zone.

personally I would call her and ask her out for a date before the party. The main reason for this would be to convey your interest without being an AFC. Also, at the end of the night on the date or whatever this would be a perfect opportunity for you to hook up with her if the date went well, u used kino, good EC, built rapport etc.

If you don't hook up with her that night for whatever reason, you could then try at the party. I personally prefer situations where it is easy to isolate the ladies that I'm trying to hook up with or fvck, and dates seem to lead to that quite nicely if you are aggressive enough to escalate. However, at the party you could still pull it off just might be a tad more difficult.
