I recently bought GNC's Weight Gainer 2200 for $18 (hell of a deal). Anywho I was curious when is the best time to take it? Should I make a serving up and drink it throughout the day or drink it at once before/after a workout?

Any advice is appreciated.

I stopped taking my Whey Protein because Weight Gainer has a great deal of protein in it, I'll start retaking it once I finish my 5 servings off.

I started Creatine as well. I have Creatine Drive by GNC and I've been taking it 4 times a day as well.

How is that **** and the amount of that **** drinkable? It boggles my mind. It's chalky and you have to drink what feels like ten gallons worth.

If drinking one serving has 153% of my daily value in protien (it's much more because I over did this batch by adding too much milk), why would Whey still be necessary in my diet?

HAHAHAHHAHA .. um. Ahem.

The RDA doesn't apply here, because you're not a sedentary average person on a low fat 2000kcal diet, you are instead an athletic, virile young male who works out hard and does plenty of cardio on his way to becoming a lean mean muscular monstrosity, for whom the 80g protein or so as recommended will simply not cut it. :)

when i'm bulking I tend to only use this sort of thing when i dont have the time to make proper meals, I eat 6 times a day, e.g., breakfast, post lunch , lunch, post dinner, dinner, supper with around 2-3 hours inbetween. I only really use them for the post meals as i'm in work and its more covenient.

I thought it was kind of odd to be taking 4 servings of Creatine. The internet says two servings at most, while the bottle says take four.

Can someone explain to me the benefits of using weight gain supplements? I've had numerous people tell me it was extremely foolish for buying it, I'm looking for views to enforce my purchase.

Also, theres no way I can drink this stuff two days in a row. Can I take it every other day?

A few points i want to make here guys.

1. The serving size on the container isn't compulsory. Make your own serving sizes if their reccomendations are to much! If they are in sachets you can still split it in half and have half at one time and half at other times.

2. Weight gain formula's are useful, you wherent stupid for buying one. If you have a monster fast metabolism and/or do alot of excercise and cardio you need those extra carbs so your body doesnt metabolise it as easy. If your one of those people then a pure protein just wont cut it.

3. As far as when to take it. most important time is post workout as thats your window of oppurtunity. The next most important time is as soon as you wake up. When you wake up your body enters a catabolic state and starts attacking muscle tissue as it doesnt have the nutrients it needs, so you need a hit of protein. I'd leave it at that at first but step it up to 3 times a day if you need it.

4. With creatine you should load it if you are using just a pure micronised creatine. If you have a transport system (either using sugars or nitric oxide) then i wouldnt worry about it to much.

Hope that helped guys,

seriously, if people need weight gainer to grow (and actually do need it) then don't spend the money and just eat pizza or burger king or something. you'll get a much better anabolic response. throw down half a domino's after your workout.

(this isn't a joke post by the way, I firmly believe solid junk food is superior to any off-the-shelf weight gainer for purposes of muscle growth, it tastes way better and it's a helluva lot cheaper too. lots of people I know have had massive growth spurts off junk food - of course, their bodyfat was very low and they gained a little chub with the mass but it was hardly noticeable.)
