Hey guys,

Need a little advise, a few opinions.

I want to buy a new car. My old one is ok, but I'm sick of it.

My budget for it is 50k.

My only real requirement is that it is either a front wheel drive, or all wheel drive. (I have to deal with snow every winter, and rwd cars are $hit in snow.)

RWD is only good if you know how to use it. Get a truck with RWD/4WD Or with both. Trucks are awsome I have a Chevy s-10 1990 RWD with 4WD capability. Meaning I can switch back and forth. Was 1000$ and not bad condition.

Something with POWER!!! :p

As for a car..... I would say go for a nissan or something.

It's a bit higher then my budget... so I might have to hold off for a while... but I'm starting to get attached to the Jeep Cherokee SRT8.

Have you looked at a Subaru or Mitsubishi?

Japanese quality, and POWER! I'm a fan of the Mitsubishi Lancer myself. Sporty and 4wd, or awd is an option too.

Also, if you want a big car.. have you looked at the Trailblazer SS? Looks pretty nice to me. Its like the Cherokee, but it looks a little more refined and solid.

Also, Nissan makes a mean SUV too Nissan Murano.

Subaru Impreza: http://www.drivesubaru.com/Sum06/News/WRXSTILTD.jpg

Or hell, just get a BMW and be done with it.

Believe me, I respect jap ability to put out good cars. Big fan of the nissan altima :)

Still, I think I've more or less made up my mind now. The STR8 Jeep blows out the competition as far as speed is concerned. I love a good 0-60.

I'm probably gonna hold off for a while anyway, only have one garage, so until I have definate plans on what to do with my mustang... i'll have to wait.

Thanks for the advice though.

LOL! You're looking at good acceleration from an SUV? :D
A mustang does 0-60, in about 5 seconds. This thing is faster. My main concern is with the stability when cornering.

I'm gonna try to arrange a test drive for next saturday. I'll let you know how it goes.

I was originally looking for something reasonably priced, and fast. While I have driven rwd cars in the past (and drive one now) I prefer either awd or fwd. This limits my options somewhat as far as fast cars go.

When I found out about the SRT jeep, i figured it might be a good overall compromise. Enough room to haul $hit, 4wd, and for a big car, amazing acceleration.

I'll see though. Test drive should be interesting. Last time I test drove a porche, the sales guy practically pissed himself.

Anything with eight cilinders. :)

Love big engines... sadly they are too rare around here.

Good luck with your SUV. Hope you don't roll it or anything.

Ehh, I wear the seat belt. That plus the airbags, I should be fine.

I'm pretty sure I would also get the anti-roll protectin package. Although, I'm probably gonna turn that stuff off...

As I said, I'll test drive, if I like, I'll buy, if not, then I'll keep looking.

Wtf you guys all nerds? This dude has 50 k to drop on a car. Jesus christ I would get a beamer (BMW) or Ford F150 if your concerned with snow. You could probably get a used Corvette or a new one if your lucky. If your going to get a Japanese car don't get nissan/suzuki or mistubishi they blow, get a Toyota (Lexus) or Honda. Japanese cars don't have power who ever says that is on crack, that's why "ricers" spend so much money upgrading those "stock" cars for street/drag racing.

SUVs are so g*y... trucks are SO MUCH BETTER. What SUV drivers don't understand is that it's much more dangerous to drive a SUV cuz the center of gravity is higher so it's much easier to roll over. It's also ugly I would get a jeep but that's also dangerous on highways and snow. If you want something different get a truck, japanese made trucks are weak you should either get a ford 150 or dodge ram 1500. Trucks are best in the snow.

Beamers are certainly nice. I've considered getting a bmw, but I wasn't overly impressed with the ones i test drove.

I'm not looking for luxury either.

I considered getting a truck, but I really have no use for something that big. I need the trunk space, and I like having a decent size backseat.

With SUVs, rollover is definately an issue, that's why I want to take one of these SRT jeeps for a test drive, see how far I can push it on corners.

The little rice rockets are great, but I'm a big guy, and not a fan of the bucket seat. Besides, with the clearance those things have I would always be scraping bottom.

BMW E46 M3 for 50K

Subaru Legacy Spec B; The B stands for Bilstein shocks. It's nice AWD sleeper sedan w/ 6 speed @ 35K. 0-60 in in low 5 second range. Unique, rolls on 18's. Very easy to make more hp for cheap. I have driven one.

SRT-8 1/4 mile is nasty fast for a 5000 lb monster. How is the braking ?

CCKazi007...hmmm some of those Japanese cars do have real HP. Most trucks are not all that great in the snow if RWD (and no limited slip) on all-seasons. Last time I checked the center of gravity of a SUV and Truck are quite similar.

I'll past on the truck, and I'll keep my 300+ hp rice rocket with perhaps the most sophisticated AWD available. peace.

Infinity G35... this car is simply amazing but dont take my word for it go test drive it... also it wont quite cost you 50k but is just as much car as bmw, lexus that would cost you that much. If you want to spend 50k look at the infinit M class instead of G class..

I could not be happier with my infiniti it is by far the best car I have ever owned.

Dude, when you asked best new car for $50K... what you really meant is;

I have $50K, what car can I buy with it that ends in "Jeep SRT". Anything else just won't do.

This is not a discussion about cars. Its about how much you want the SRT.

Go buy the damn thing already, you already made up your mind.
