I've been working out A LOT over the last few months and I have a question.

How much beer is bad for you if you are bulking up?

I read up top that your not supposed to do any cardio if you want to get bigger, but I drink a lot of beer every week and I don't want to get a beer belly.

This might sound stupid, but if you drink a lot of beer and work out a lot, does that help make you bigger?

Any advice??

the carbs and cals in beer, while bad, are not imo the worst thing about alcohol. when alcohol is in your body, your body does everything possible to expel it, since alcohol is a poison. when your body is doing this, it stops producing testosterone, the male hormone. testosterone helps muscle gain.

alcohol is bad, and if you want to see serious results you won't use alchol too much. if you do drink, make sure you eat a lot of slow digestive carbs and slow digestive protein before. oatmeal and cottage cheese are good for this. also try to consume ALOT of water. i don't care if you have to pee alot, water = good. make yourself a whey protein shake before you begin drinking, then when you are done drinking, consume the whey protein shake. this should help prevent catabolism.

your best bet is not drinking though.

Also, your body stores alcohol as fat.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I used to have a small amount of chocolate and a drink or two before going to bed. This was before I knew the stuff I'm learning now. I didnt move a pound. When I came off the beer and chocolate before bedtime, I lost three pounds in the first week, and then one pound a week for about 5 weeks.

Some of the smallest changes can suddenly flip the biggest switch to make your body look great. Try and cut the beer out as much as possible!

From my own experience (been working out exactly a year) now, assuming your from Britain you'll be into having a couple of drinks on a friday or saturday night, like me :D

I still binge drink once a week and i have made amazing gains. If you do drink though, be prepared to get EVERYTHING else right. For example,

never missing a workout

Having a near-perfect diet when you can (aka tuna+protein shake)

downing shi-t loads of water after coming back from a night out to lessen the effects of alcohol

Keeping away from alcohol the rest of the week (e.g maybe going down the pub mid-week with mates, but staying on coke, orange juice or even nothing at all!

It'd be good to see what you look like at the moment then, to see what sort of effect that once-a-week bringe drinking session has had on your training in the last year

good any pics? :p
