I'm still looking
Title describes my question. Just wondering if having one or two beers reduces gains significantly. Sometimes I drink after a workout, around once a month or so. I looked this up but didn't really find anything conclusive.

Beer is definitely not the ideal thing to put in your body after a workout. If you do it once in a while it's not the end of the world, but personally I only want to put something in my body that will facilitate growth and recovery. Alcohol does not, in fact it inhibits protein synthesis.

Its your body do what you want. Monitor the results and assess if it's working after a month or two.

That article mentions that beer is absorbed quickly by the body and the carbohydrates help to replenish what was lost during the workout.

But there's a few things wrong with that.

First of all, alcohol reduces protein synthesis. If you goal is to gain muscle then it just made it harder. And you put extra stress on the liver from the excess alcohol, and the calories from alcohol.

Second, there's other drinks than beer that contain carbs. Fruit juice for example. There's also chocolate milk which contains various carbs and it's got protein too. Why not compare beer against those? Probably because the results wouldn't be in beer's favor.

If you want to drink beer then go ahead. But there's not much of a benefit, so don't think you're doing anything good for your body. You're not.

I've done this before.... While its certainly not as healthy as a protein shake it still has protein :)
Most beers have less than half a gram of protein.
