Hi guys,

Let´s not fool ourselves, once one looks good it´s almost impossible not to get any.

Anyone gone from skinny to muscular? What did you do--> training, diet, rest etc.

I know this should be in the fitness section, but people look more at this.

Last year I added about 20lbs, mostly muscle, on a 6'1" frame and it made a nice difference. Did this in 2 months with a serious trainer, 5 workouts a week, 5 meals a day, plenty of sleep. Friends and women made positive comments about the change.

I am what body builders refer to as a "hard gainer" but I got strong results by working my ass off. And during that time, I was also drinking a LOT. You just have to keep your diet on point.

It definitely improved my confidence as well. Each week as I gained in strength I felt more alpha and my attitude was exactly where it needed to be to attract women.

If you have the time and dedication to do it, I would highly rec doing P 90 X. I bought the program of cds and manuals ($150) and started the program exactly 4 weeks ago. I have always lifted weights, and when I started I was around 212 pounds on my 6 feet tall frame. I wanted to get more lean, ripped, and have better cardio endurance. So I started it. This is NOT easy. I have had one day off in 4 weeks. Every day you do a CD of different things. One day pull ups/weights/chin ups. Next day. pure cardio. Next day yoga (you would be amazed how much you sweat doing their yoga), next day core work etc etc...add in 2-3 days a week of ab work with all that. And this is not stuff where you do an exercise and take a break. This is hard core marine training type stuff. You will sweat and work your ass off. And it makes you eat really well too. Comes with a full diet program. I just finished my Phase 1, then a week of core, yoga, and kenpo, and am now about to start phase 2 tomorrow for a month, which judging from the results photographs I have seen is where your biggest gains happen.

So far I have lost 7 pounds, have put on more muscle, but am SO much leaner. It really does work. Warning though, the first week you do this, you will feel like a truck ran over you or you have the flu or something. Like I said, its brutal.

Nobody gains 20 pounds of mostly muscle in 2 months naturally. This forum is just so grand. It is like being back in the 7th grade all over again :woo: .

Wow, things were once so much simpler for us 7th graders. No Internet. Just playing "Smear the Queer" at school and "Contra" at our homes. This video still gives me goosebumps. Hell, I still play this s--- on the iPad2 while listening to and watching this on my iPad2.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCfYkWD2fPU
Basically, I am still in the 7th grade all these years later  . Thank God I have Eastern Europe. If not I would be a complete fool. My GOD! "Kids Incorporated" was the bomb. F--- that s--- you hear these days. Fergie hit her peak all the way back in the 80's!!!! I won't even get into Mario Lopez on that show.

Give me some serious rep points if you have even heard of "Kids Incorporated", "Contra", or "Smear the Queer". Dare I even bring up a clip of "Unsolved Mysteries"? Trust me, I will.

Yeah, 20lbs of muscle would take at least a year of training. In 2 months, you might get 2 lbs.

If you are really thin...it's mostly all about your diet and eating eating eating.

Im in the process of bulking and my diet consist of

skim milk
2 bowls of oatmeal
1 bowl of raisin bran cereal
1 banana
8 oz chickenbreast (make chicken salads with grapes, banana peppers, and low fat m. whip...hard for me to eat a chickenbreast as is)
2 baked potatoes with low fat sour cream
whey protein shake
3 eggs (drop them in my protein shake)
4 tsp of peanut butter
1 cup of cottage cheese
1 can of tuna with low fat m. whip and sweet relish
4 slices of wheat bread
1 cup of yogurt

My macros are where I want them to be and I've seen gains. About 3300 cals a day. Its tough for me to eat that much, but I'm tired of being the skinny dude so that's my motivation. I work out every other day and since I've been underweight all my life, I'm just lifting and seeing results.

good luck.

nah...naturally, you can get 4-6 lbs in a month. 1-1.5 every week. 20-24 lbs in 4 months is a legitimate goal.

I find this extremely hard to believe. After 3 months of Basic Combat Training in the Army, I went from ~173lbs to ~193lbs and probably only gained 6lbs of muscle at most, however, much more fit. And having started powerlifting/bodybuilding since Jan of this year up until now, I can assure that nobody puts on 20-24lbs of muscle in 4 months. That's impossible. You MIGHT get up to 8lbs in that time frame, but that's assuming you're doing extremely intense training and are on an extreme diet. You may be confusing muscle with water/carbohydrate retention or something else.

A big key is getting your body fat percentage down. Chances are you'll look ripped even if you don't gain significant muscle mass, if you lose some of the fat. I got my % from 19% to 14% in 2 months (biking 20 miles per day, 3-4 days per week + swimming, chin-ups, pull-ups, push-ups every other day, plus drinking lots of freshly squeezed lemonade with Stevia and Distilled water, Spirulina powder and freshly squeezed Grapefruit juice first thing in the morning). I went from 215 to 205 lb. So instead of 41 lb fat at 215 I had 29 lb fat at 205, meaning I gained about 2 lb muscle in 2 months, but looked much better. My ex-gf (who hadn't seen me for about 8 weeks) saw me again and throughout that whole night said she could totally see that I lost weight "everywhere". Meaning my chin, arms, belly, etc. My metabolic age went from 27 to 18 (at age 40). I use a Tanita body fat scale to measure.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

Personally, I found that my gains increased exponentially when I started hitting the gym everyday (working different groups each time). Not only could I workout each muscle group more intensely, it also made it easier to stay in the habit.

At first I'd only work out 3-4 times a week. It was tough to get motivated to go. On some days I'd just make up a BS excuse. But by going every day, it became a habit. After a while, it felt weird on days when I didn't go.

Oh, and I think having some good workout music also helps to get you pumped. Not long ago, I bought the arm strap thing for my iPhone started taking it to the gym. I put a bunch of metal tunes on there and I think they definitely add a couple of extra reps!

I have.
Training

Good advice particularly the last part : "Okay, I think I've covered everything for the moment, try that split out and see how you go, remember to change it as you see fit, it's not set in stone, just an outline which should set you on your way."

Diet
Protein: 1.3-1.5g / # of body weight
Carbs: 2-3g/ # of body weight
Fat .33 - .5g / # of body weight

Courtesy of http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18040

Rest
I try to get 8-10 hours of sleep a day. Its not always realistic and some days I get 6-7 hours.

I know this should be in the fitness section, but people look more at this.
I don't judge progress by how many lbs I put on just by how I look in the mirror.

First month was basically getting into shape. I didn't really get any bigger but I was slightly more cut. Second month was kinda the same and I started to see a little more definition and some areas were bigger like my shoulders and back. I was starting to get very little pecs. I don't remember the rest but from month 3 to 6 I was just exploding in size of different body parts till I had that not super muscular look, but it definitely looked like I was jacked and played sports all the time.

More tips i can think of:
Consistency is key. Even if you can't lift a lot heavier than the previous week, at least try to match last week's level. Some days do slightly more reps at a slightly lower reight, some days less reps and more weight, and some moderate. Aka just do something different each time you go in.

Copy what the big guys in your gym are doing. If a guy is big and looks the way you wanna look, look at what exercises he did to get there. I never did decline bench presses until I saw a guy with an awesome chest do it (nohomo) copied him and what do you know it worked for me.

Also learn when to stop lifting. Lifting gets me extremely tired quickly and even if I don't go 100% at the gym and when I'm studying I can't focus. I quit lifting a month before my finals just so I can study.

I've been doing this shiit for over a decade and have gotten to the point where I am going to be competing in my first bodybuilding show next year. I've made tens of thousands of dollars taking my clothes off for women, and have also been a high performance athlete in the past in track and bobsled.

This is my current competition log:

Biggest pointers I can give to people is to be consistent and have a really well thought out diet that you can stick to. Diet is by far the most important thing in fitness... I simply cannot stress this enough. You're not gonna grow unless you give your body the basic building blocks to repair itself.

Also stick to basic compound movements when you're first starting a routine. I'm coming close to a 500 lb deadlift at 185 lb bodyweight and my routine is still centered around the basic big compound movements.

Do your basics and do them very well and be committed to this kind of a lifestyle for as long as you're alive.

1) Several years ago I added about 10lbs of mass over several months. I stopped lifting and lost it all, but that is going to account for a lot of my gains as it is fairly easy to regain lost mass when you get on a dedicated program.

2) I did gain some fat, my using a Tanita scale I kept an eye on my body fat %, water weight, bone density, etc. Most of what I gained was mass.

3) Well, you said it...
naturally
Read between the lines.

Anyway, my post was not intended to imply that these results are typical. I was simply discussing a pretty noticeable change in my physique that yielded positive results and attention.

You can relax now.

When it comes to bulk, I think there is a point of diminishing return in general ILs from women. Being cut, muscular signals health and strong genes, but as with anything one can go overboard.

If you are taking junk to put on that kind of weight in two months I pray for you. Seriously. Time is your friend. If you think muscle is going to get you high-end girls you are nuts. Only people I know who love muscular men are other men. I am not saying that being in shape isn't a plus for getting girls, BUT it is not the answer. Anyone on here who disagrees with me has no understanding of females.

I did it for me, I was sick of being skinny. It was not for some woman.

I guess you missed my post directly above yours?

Agree 100% - every chick apparently gets the vibe i'm juicing, and most chicks are turned off by that, probably because they presume steroids = poor health (which is another discussion)
