I've come to a point in my life where i'm just like F*** school. I honestly don't know what i want to do with my life.. I'm in college right now and i started of with really high grades, but after this semester, my grades dropped drastically. Mainly due to the fact that i don't know where i want to head in life.

I just know i want to make lots of money and be well off. Being that jobs are becoming more and more elusive and the job market is more competitive for college grads..im really not to sold on the regular " if you don't get good grades you wont get into or graduate college " and " if you don't graduate college, you wont get a good job and make good money"

Getting a good education and grades no longer ensures getting good money and success. Everything is a chance now. I don't want to go through years of vigorous schooling just to be getting by like most people are. I don't want to start making good money at age 35-40 due to eperience in a certain job. I want to sgart making good money while i'm young but i'm just at a crossroads right now...Any advice from you more experienced dudes?

Go into healthcare or IT... or if you really hate college, learn a trade, they are underrated in our "white collar service economy job or nothing." Figure out a niche while saving up to start your own business.

Stop focusing on making lots of money in the future, and start managing your life on a day to day basis towards happiness (not excitement). Good luck.

You're fvcking yourself over with the low grades. They never go away. Maybe someday you'll find a graduate program that you want to get into. No matter how many years have passed, they will still judge you on the grades you are making right now.

Dropping out is much better than making bad grades. You can always return to college when you are interested again. I dropped out for a while to be a stockbroker when I was 21. When I told my mom, she started bawling like it was the end of the world. Then I went back to school a couple years later and made straight As because I cared again. If I hadn't dropped out, I would have ended up with a low undergrad gpa and never gotten into a grad school.

I was thinking about getting into stocks, but i have to read up on that. And also you do you think going back to school was one of the best decisions you've ever made?

college is a scam, stocks and bonds are scams. Read about real estate investing.

Every person with a degree think they are the elite, but are worst off then an average joe who works hard with no degree because for one they have debt on top of debt that will take so many years to pay off, two these people with these piece of paper bullcrap they call degrees can't find jobs.

If your not going to college for a trade, then you deserve the massive amount of debt that you won't ever pay off.

Everybody on the whole goddamned planet wants to make lots of money and be well off.

And some people even try, and a very, very SMALL percentage ever succeed.

Most (non-connected) people get super rich NOT because they are smart, or extra creative, or they've got special DNA.

But because they just suck it the fvck up and do what needs to be done.

For a LONG goddamn time.

You want to make a lot of money?

Work on improving the skills that will get you paid until your skills are in the top 1% of all others with those same skills.

Long time ago, that's what college was for. And for some majors (engineering, math, etc) it still is. Now, it's more up to you. Take some risks, learn some skills, and never give up.

If you want the money without the effort, get in line. There's already a few billion people ahead of you.

Nope. Wish I had though! I ended up in financial law which is a good fit for me and fine, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably have busted my ass learning coding and networking when those things started getting big in the late 80s-90s. That field is not going away, will only grow, on site service can't be outsourced overseas, and there will be massive consolidation in the future leading to pots of cash out gold for those who start their own IT consulting business and grow it a bit. I don't know of many unemployed people in IT or healthcare either.

I worked a full time job while I was going through college and never borrowed a dime. Also, the place I was working paid part of my tuition in exchange for working for them for a year once I graduated. I hear that sort of thing is getting rarer now, though, which is a shame.

Mack I was in your position a few years ago and shared exactly the same thoughts and concerns despite a guaranteed mid 6 figure career in healthcare had I finished. I don't regret dropping out one bit. I'd recommend finding a job and working while you build other skills to start your own business. Start reading a ton about entrepreneurship and business. Start with the book "The Millionaire Fastlane" by MJ Demarco. Cannot recommend that book enough. Torrent if you have to but whatever you do read it cover to cover ASAP!

Young,

You need to develop a quality Career Plan, one that is of a 5 year, 10 year and 15 year structure. The career plan should be based on what's in demand in the marketplace, and what talents you have that can be turned into "skills" (human capital) to fulfill these demands.

STEM areas are hot right now and if you go to college you should be going into a STEM, anything else you do not "need" college unless you plan to pursue all the way to the PhD level to get into Education of any type.

College isn't a scam, college is just a tool in a toolbox of tools that you "could use" to construct your career. But of course, if you don't have a blueprint of what you are trying to construct, you will never know if you need college and IF you do need it, what type of major you need and what type of college you should be attending based on what you can afford/starting salaries.

I felt the same way when I was 18 - granted, I was getting good grades and got a scholarship to college, but I felt it would be a waste of my time and that I could get rich without having a degree (which I still believe to this day).

I'll tell you the same thing my Mom told me back then: if you already have a plan for your life and know what you want to do and how to go about it, then don't go to college. BUT, if you're still trying to figure it out, go to college in the meantime. They have great resources (via books, the library, and the teachers there) and, most importantly, you'll be able to meet people that can later help you in life with whatever you're doing. I went to school for a fine and performing arts degree; in the process, I made friends with people that later became producers, lawyers, financial advisers, motivational speakers and more, all of whom have been GREAT resources for me since that time.

Can you meet people like this outside of college? Absolutely! But again, if you don't really know what you want to do, going to college is the easiest way to actually establish relationships with these types of people BEFORE they become these people, and they're more likely to want to help you since you were with them back when they could barely afford Ramen noodles.

1300+USD in 2 weeks of starting out. Probably spent about 5 hours tops meetin clients.

I already have a plan for growing my wealth now and plan to use it to start my own business venture when I graduate from college.

Like Harry said, I believe building your network from young definitely has its merits which I chose this line as well.

Don't get why you think its funny but it definitely beats minimum wage which nets me about 1200USD/month.
