Interesting viewpoint from myself, but I really believe that one day I'll be famous, even though I don't want to be, and thats why I'd never post a pic or give too many details about myself away over the Internet, in case some person tells the papers or something.

Anyone else feel the same way or am I just, err, too much like me?

Yeh sure. Everybody thinks or likes to believe they will be famous. Put there name down in history blah blah.

But there only a select few who make it. And those people are the ones who are focused on what they dream of doing like acting, music, football player, etc.

Not posting a embarassing pic coz it might come out when you become famous, lol thats funny. Youre living in a dream world already by preparing yourself before you get famous (when you arent even going to be famous)

Tell me what way you going to become famous huh? Appearing on some lame reality show like Big Brother or the Real World?

Some of you are nuts! It's all about luck breaking into show business--not talent and hardwork. Most of today's actors are talentless jerk offs, who collect kazillion dollar checks from morons who support every product or movie they produce. Hollywood is what's wrong with the US.

I'm sick of society living vicariously through these slime balls!

.........WHy can't this guy become famous? What's the point of insulting this guy?

Haha...

Yes, I really don't want to be famous. Can't think of anything worse.

I'd like to earn a lot of money though - and with that does come attention, unfortunately. Perhaps others lack ambition.

No, sounds like a realist to me. Like has been mentioned before, virtually everybody thinks that later in life they're going to be famous. In fact, there's even a phrase for when these people finally realize that they aren't going to do anything more important than be a faceless mid-level employee in a generic company doing something boring.

Mid-Life Crisis

To answer the question that the original poster asked, I too don't let people take my pictures without my consent... this was especially true when I was a dancer in New Orleans. While I don't hold delusions of grandeur, I also would like to keep my options open. With some of my accomplishments, a position in public service (i.e. City Council, State Senate, etc) isn't out of the question. However, I don't wake up at night thinking about what I'll do once I'm president.

Other people's fame is just a narcotic meant to quell the fires that one feels when they realize they are amounting to nothing in life.
Therefore, these pathetic individuals try to find a celebrity that they most " identify" with and use that " connection" to justify the illusion that they themselves will also be famous one day.

Additionally, actors, musicians, and athletes don't do any real work but get paid more than people that do real work. The hopes of one getting famous is an outcropping of the "get rich quick and without working" mentality that every Westerner has. These rich people are rich based on luck, and nothing else. Don't plan on following their path.

It is strange that people took to worshipping celebrities as the solution to their realization that hard work very rarely pays off, rather than forming a different, risk-taking mindset, or even inciting rebellion at the current social climate.

Additionally, the primary western religion, Christianity, has moral taboos opposed to gaining wealth.
"A camel has more of a chance passing through the eye of a needle than a rich man does in entering heaven"
The belief is that by bypassing wealth in this life, the believer will have an eternity of happiness in heaven. Whoever wrote that line in the Bible was a rich man.

And as far as gaining wealth, I'm sure that most of you had ideas at one point, but when you told your loved ones and friends about them, they shot them down in a fury of scorn and criticism.
Of course, taking advice on getting rich from people who aren't rich is like asking a McDonald's burger flipper how to perform open heart surgery.

So, to respond to the poster's belief that he will one day be famous: You won't be famous. But, keep in mind that the heads and CEOs of the companies that market celebrity drivel are very rarely famous themselves. They're rich as hell though. So concentrate on gaining money, not on gaining the approval of others. A true businessman WILL gain enemies and envious retractors.

Movie/rock/sports star fame is an impossible dream, just like CEO wealth. You will never reach it. Flame me for being negative and pvssy if you want, but that won't make it any less true.

If you want something you can actually get, I'd suggest you aim for your own personal happiness: do what feels good and to Hell with everything else. If you get it right, you won't care about money, power, or fame.

Haha you got to love it. You should print them out and give them out at bars or something.

I think that you are all misinterpreting me pretty badly though. I said that I don't want to become famous, I just think it might happen. And sods law, if I don't want it to happen it probably will haha.

I'm suprised at the lack of ambition by a lot of people here though. Wanting to earn a million a year isn't such an unrealistic dream, though its very difficult.

I guarantee you that the guys who make millions don't do it for the money.

It's an ego trip for them, being Mr. Corporate Bigshot and rubbing it in everyone's face. Making millions just to make millions is not why they do it; they do it for the status, the stuff, and above all for how much better than everyone else it makes them feel.

And IMO that's why they're able to do what it takes to get there. Someone who's just doing it just to do it is going to run out of steam very quickly.

Everybody wants to be rich ... no fvcking way. Most just think that they do. If your average Joe finds out he can live comfortably on only $40,000 a year, he's not going to bother to try for more, because it's not and has never been about the money.

Just kill a few million people. Bonus points if they're part of a minority race. Extra points if you do it while conducting an aggressive war against the world's superpowers.

Isn't it funny that there are more evil famous people than good famous people? But then again, Hitler's exploits are more interesting to read than Mother Therasa's healing hands.

Some of you guys who pose behind realism are really pessimistic imo. It's ironic how most people who share your opinion are in no position to be critiquing the dreams of others; the lot of them stuck in their "just to get by" jobs. Just because you don't think you have in you to be rich, famous, (i.e. whatever it is you measure the nadir of success by) etc, doesn't mean someone else shouldn't go after they want in life.

And in response to some members' criticism of actors, musicians and other artists who are usually at the forefront of fame's landscape, I can't help being offended. You guys are totally entitled to your opinions but as a person who considers himself an artist (specifically, an actor though I hate using the term) I must say you are wrong in your assessment of the work that is put in by artists.

I won't even discuss the topic of music since it's idiotic to think that being a musician for a living is easy, and when I say musician I am not talking about people like britney spears and jessica simpson. Although, their jobs are no way as easy as you would think.

But on to acting, acting can be hella hard! Real acting that is. You have to realize it's muchn more than just reading lines, it's everything from voice intonation straight down to the slightest mannerisms, all caried out in a natural way. It's not such an easy task to override all those little idiosyncrincies we hold as our own with those of a character allthogether alien to ourselves ,and make it convincing (unless you're someone like marlon Brando). Trust me.

Furthermore, 99.99 % percent of actors are treated like crap in their quest for success. That's the bottom line. With acting you can go to a great school like Yale, get a acting/theatric degree and come out and be dead broke for the next 30 years of your life (even if you are the best actor of your generation). Now tell me, how does that compare to going to business school/law school/medical school and having your chances of getting a job be pretty high within a few years of graduation. And this also holds true for someone who is of average proficiency in the aforementioned fields.
With something like acting, your are never guaranteed stability (even with the famous ones-why do you think celebrities always have to walk on eggshels concerning the press, how they present themselves, and the types of roles they choose?)-just as fast as you're on top , the same time it takes for you to be back scrounging on the bottom rung of the ladder.

Lastly, if you do become lucky enough to attain stardom in acting (this obviously also applies to successful musicians comedians, etc.), you give a substantial part of your life over to the media and the group that it caters to: the public. Whether you're constantly traveling around the globe promoting your latest project or just relaxing, you are always scrutinized by society. The gap between your personal life and professional life becomes virtually nonexistant. If you are someone like an investment banker or a doctor your affiliation with
your career is relegated to work time hours and then when you're not working you can be whoever you like -unless you choose to be identified by your job-, but then at least you have a choice. With being a famous entertainer, you don't have that choice because your image is determined by the public.

Now, you still think it sounds easy?
