hey i've heard that it's good to have a couple scoops of whey powder after workouts. but thats really inconvieniant for me, so is there a difference in eating power bars instead?

hey and one more thing : are "dead lifts" the same things as clean pulls or clean hangs? or is it something completely different?

explain the inconvenience. powerbars are distinctly inferior, full of stuff you don't need immediately after a workout (fiber & fat just get in the way of sending protein straight to your muscles, and fructose is useless from the same standpoint).

this is what most guys here mean when they say deadlift:

there are also stiff or straightlegged varieties, which are simpler motions are require even more attention to proper form.

well, i mean after swim practice, it'd be easier to eat a power bar than to get a bottle of water, then put some scoops of ur shiz in drink it. and the kind i got doesn't mix well for some reason.....after i mix it, theres still a bunch of clumps that i can't dissolve.

I've looked into protein bars and I can't find one that isn't full of extra sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and other garbage. If your whey is clumpy, try a different brand. I use Optimum Nutrition and it mixes up great with a spoon.

Powder leads to better absorption.

Deadlifts are similar, but yet totally different than any clean variation.

good lord...

Just go all out and eat a tub of sugar while you're at it, its an excellent post/workout snack.

I'm surprised no one has said it yet, and this isn't a bash, but DONT BE A BABY, and just DO IT.

No one said this lifestyle and what you do is convenient.

I made TONS of chicken 2 days ago, rice, and spent hours cooking. Was it convenient? NO. Is it worth it, so I dont have to cook every day? YES.

This VERY reason is why many people will never make it,or fail in their quest to what ever it is they are after.

Here is what you do. You get one of those cups that are 8oz cups with a lid. You measure your protein out the day before and put it in the cup and put the lid on. You then toss it in your bag. Right after you exercise, you pop the lid off, add 6oz of water, shake a bit and chug it down. SIMPLE.

If it clumps too much, get a new protein powder. Again, very simple. If you have lots left, deal with it while you can then get a new tub.

Bars are NOT what you need after a workout.

Now this wasn't said to sound harsh, but it is what separates people like me from you, and its what is reality. Mine doesn't clump, but if it did, i'd still chug it down. If I have to cook and prepare meals for the week, I will. If I have to prepare my powdered shake concoction the night before, I will.

There are many things I do, and others do, that people just go... What the hell? But they are the ones who dont have a good physique, or cant even lift their own bodyweight on squats. They are the ones who aren't cut out for this sport/lifestyle.

If you get this picky and think that is inconvenient, you better take up ballet dancing, or cheerleading. :cheer:

If you can handle it, then it will set you apart from the others.

Good luck!

steak.

otherwise, i don't touch protein bars, if you're really in that much of a pinch get muscle milk or something
Steak is the wrong thing to eat right after a workout and so is muscle milk. Sure, later in the day, they can be great, but after your workout you want fast acting carbs and protein. NO FAT! Fat slows digestion. Either whey, or a whey/casein and even soy blend. (Yes, the research is being updated on partial amounts of soy iso and casein added to whey.)

But his question was AFTER he swims.
