Bad day at the Gym

I am fairly new to going to the gym. Used to be really unfit but got to the point over a few weeks where I could run a mile at a decent pace. However went today and got tired after running about half that! Its not just that my muscles were tired, I was out of breath too and it was just really hard going. Its got me down a bit 'cos I feel like for some reason I have just gone back to my pre-gym levels of fitness. What is going on?

How long has it been since you last worked out?

Sometimes if I'm tired or sick I feel like that too, I wouldn't really worry about it unless you've taken a long break from working out.

sounds like you need some steroids or at least amphetamines. Just kidding, make sure you eat low-glycemic carbohydrates and some protein to sustain you're energy.

How many days have you lifted the past seven days? It should be no more than 4. If you did 5 or more days in the past week, then you are overtrained. In that instance, take the day off and let your body recover.

You've over trained.

When you don't feel like being there, it's your body telling your brain that you've over trained.

Take a day off or take it easy for a day or so. It's actually good for you ...
