I have seen lots of guys with bad acne be great with girls

its probably the lack of confidence that can come with bad acne, rather than the acne itself.

I used to have bad acne (in my youth :D), and I felt like a freak.

Acne is totally treatable. Yes, acne is a major problem. I don't care what it takes, go to a dermatologist and DO WHAT THEY ASK!!!! If you have to get a job, do-it.. but please see a dermatologist. If you don't, you will end up with permanent scaring that will costs thousands and thousands of dollars to even try to begin correcting.

Acne is mainly caused by bacteria. If you follow the dermatologist's instructions & kill the bacteria, your acne will go bye-bye. It takes several weeks, so please get started ASAP. Call today.

Yes, acne will effect a chick's opinion of you, but it depends on how severe it is. Because I've had it, I know what it feels like not being able to control your appearance. If you'd like, send me a pm and I'll tell you how I got rid of mine, it's not a cure but it WILL make them go away so long as you keep up the regimen, which doesn't involve taking risky meds or washing your face a million times a day. I've been to dermatologists and nothing they've ever prescribed me has worked to any significant degree. That's what makes acne so irritating, if you could simply get rid of it by going to a dermatologist no one would be complaining.

Seriously, I've had acne since I was 16 and I've finally found something that works after researching and experimenting for a very long time. It's actually not difficult to find info on what I've been doing but I won't post it here because people will start arguing over what they think works and yada yada yada...

hit up the dermatologist!!!

over-the-counter creams do jack for acne.

my acne was pretty bad--puss and all-- and Accutane (prescription pill for acne) cleared it up totally in 6 months. And it hasnt come back for 3-4 years now (a pimple here and there occasionally maybe, but that was it).

That's right. It's caused by excess oil that clogs your pores. And whoever said to get treatment or it will leave scars, is also wrong. It will leave scars if you pick at it and try to pop them. I had severe cystic acne from the time I was 15 up until very recently. I'm almost 23. I've also done some research and have found that by dumping dairy from my diet and lowering my intake of sugar, my face has cleared up dramatically.

Didn't accutane turn you into leatherface though?

IMO you need to first give your acne a scale of 1-10 and then plan from there.

I labeled mine about a 7 when I first started to work on it. I went to a doctor about it and got some prescription medication (tetracycline) and it went down a couple of notches to about a 5. Then I quit that and tried pro-active (by the way, get the Costco knock off of proactive. It works just as good and its cheaper and it lasts you 3 months instead of 1). That took me down to a 3 or 4. Recently I went to a dermatologist and she gave me like two different creams and put me back on the tetracycline pills. If I had to rate my acne now, I'd put it at about a 2 and improving. Unless your within about 5ft of me, you can't even tell I have it, and even then its not bad at all.

Yes, drink lots of water, wash your face every time you notice oil starting to build up it doesn't take that long to wet a wash cloth and scrub your face for like 10 seconds.

If you're going to be washing your face constantly, you need to make sure you're also moisturizing. The more you wash your face, the more you strip your skin of it's natural oils. This leads to even more oil build-up as your skin tries to compensate.

Very true, just try not to cake on the moisturizer. And be careful with what you put on your face. I used to use aftershave, but that sh.it made me break out like you wouldn't belive. While we're on that topic, anybody got any good moisturizers that don't cause acne?

I've gone to 3 dermatologists so far, its not the bacteria, its the overproduction of oil by the oil glands do to a hormonal imbalance, caused by genetics, the bacteria is onyl a factor cuz the pores are clogged with oil and it causes an infection. people with acne have no more bacteria than people without it, its just the clogged pores that cause the problem. Ive done my research. Ive also tried antibiotics, like 9 prescription creams, vitamins, supplements, diets, everythign u can imagine. I struggled with this my whole life, at least since im 13 and im now 25 and its worse than ever. The only thing that works is accutane, but they only let u use it for 5 months at a time cuz its extremely dangerous. I used it twice alreeady, and in between the acne comes right back. i feel like a freak. Acne is not treatable aside form accutane which is a temp solution which destroys ur liver.

proactive is for mild cases. Mine is severe. my acne responds to nothing but dangerous drugs like accutane.

Seriously, try leaving dairy products out of your diet.

Wat made u start doing that. Why does it work? Is it the hormones they give the cows? Thats my theory on why so many people have adult acne these days - the hormones in our food. my parents both had acne my dad until age 21. Im 25 and mines worse than ever and my sis is 28 and has it pretty bad.

do not try to live with this problem! that is your LAST RESORT.

from this day forth, MAKE IT YOUR MISSION TO GET IT TAKEN CARE OF.

one way or another, lots of people have it and they have dealt with it.

sure, it doesn't have to be a deal breaker but why live with it if you don't have to.

go to your dermatologist or another one and ask for non lethal solutions. ask them to brainstorm. ask them for all your options. study, research yourself. find out, try stuff. get it done.

i had moderate acne when i was a kid and clinique soap (or changing hormones... they could have coincided so i'm not too sure) really helped.

luck
