I have bad breath, especially when I wake up in the morning or when I don't eat anything for too long. I don't smoke or drink alcohol; my main drink is water, tea/coffee or juice. I use electronic tooth-brush & brush my gums & teeth (not tongue though) - my teeth are relatively white. I try to brush 3 times a day but end up brushing just once - in the morning.

I feel the bad breath is coming from within my stomach; especially after meal when I burp. My daily diet is: cereal, milk, rice, lentil, lamb/goat, poultry & sometimes fruits and veges. I don't want gums to hide my bad breath. My job is stressful - could job stress causes bad breath?

Can anyone tell me what should I eat or not-eat to get rid of my bad breath?

Thanks.

That's the problem right there in most the cases of bad breath. Brushing your teeth only simply removes food and bacteria in the nooks and crannies on your teeth in order to prevent tooth decay, but it does nothing about your breath.

You MUST put toothpaste on your brush and scrub your tongue until it is strawberry pink if you want fresh breath. Also the roof of your mouth since you tongue is in constant contact with the roof of your mouth. Next time you have bad breath, look in the bathroom mirror, stick out your tongue all the way and I bet you it will look white and coated. Next take your finger and scrap your tongue then smell it. It won't smell very good. Well that coated white which you see on your tongue and now under your fingernail is a coating of food residue and bacteria growing in the perfect culture, a warm, moist, dark place: your mouth. Scrub your tongue aggressively with toothpaste, as far back as you can get without gagging. Especially do this before you go out on a date or socializing and I guarantee that is probably the cause of your bad breath. Stomach or lungs is sometimes the problem but if you are not a heavy smoker or don't have ulcers or anything, then probably not. It's suprising how many people don't brush their tongues. Once you get in the habit of doing so, not doing it will feel as unclean as leaving the bathroom without wiping your a**.

Hope this helps!

ah..i thought it might be that as well seeing as how i have the same problem in the morning..but it always makes me want to gag so i have to literally pull the tongue (grab it) and brush away while gagging at the same time. such a painful experience

use a tongue scraper. don't know if it'll do as good a job as brushing it but for me it works pretty well.

There was a study that found eating a piece of bread and glass of water to be more effective than any mouthwash, mint, or gum. Bad breath usually comes from hunger.

"Women today are so pushy. I was out on a date the other night, and finally I was like, "No! For the tenth time, I do not want a breath mint."

-from a Bob & Tom show radio skit
